Rangers bad boy Sean Avery was rushed to a Manhattan hospital Wednesday with a lacerated spleen just hours after his team’s playoff loss.
Avery, 28, arrived at St. Vincent’s Medical Center about 3 a.m., a hospital source said. Five hours earlier, the Rangers lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a Stanley Cup playoff game at Madison Square Garden.
Avery’s mother, Marlene, told the Toronto Sun that her son had a collision with a Pittsburgh defenseman in the first period and played the rest of the game ...

TSN is reporting Sean Avery has a lacerated spleen after the Daily News reported he had cardiac arrest last night. So clearly no one really knows what exactly is going on but whatever it is, it isn't good. All too often we dwell on the games and forget that they are actually played by people. Sean was demonized and lionized by various groups of fans but now everyone should just hope he is ok and wish him a speedy recovery.
