Ariza To Cleveland?
Blak4rest: Sports, Media and Vegas — ... be a crusher, but this story says he might have been a bit insulted by the $5.6 million offer. You think? That's Sasha-Luke Walton money. Trevor is better than that. But this might explain Phil Jackson's recent comments about some "sacrifices" being made during negotiations. Read between the lines on that one whatever way you like. My guess is this is a bit premature and some negotiating ploys on Ariza's part. And why not? You surely couldn't expect him to accept the first offer. ESPN

Third Quarter Collapse — ... Chris Broussard of ESPN.com reports that Trevor Ariza, the former Magic forward who was instrumental in the Lakers' championship over Orlando, may sign with Eastern Conference contender Cleveland. ...

Trevor Ariza's negotiations: My initial thoughts
Lakers Blog — It's understandable and predictable that news of Trevor Ariza and the Lakers engaged in acrimonious, standstill Trevor contract talks would send chills down the Laker Nation's collective spine.  The report from ESPN's Chris Broussard certainly doesn't drip with sunshine and moon pies:      The 24-year-old swingman, who played a key role in the Lakers' run to their 15th NBA championship, is on the verge of leaving the club, sources close to the situation said on Wednesday.   With at least five teams pursuing Ariza, the Lakers are currently unwilling ...

Cavaliers Hot For Ron Artest, Trevor Ariza
Houston Rockets — ... Orlando Magic free agent center Marcin Gortat. If the market is not there for Artest, he can definitely use the Cavs to have another career year on a team that will be on national TV all the time. He could also get infinite exposure for his game if the Cavs make another deep playoff run and even win their first-ever championship next spring. But Artest isn't the only lockdown swingman defender that Ferry is pursuing. From ESPN.com's Chris Broussard: With at least five teams ...

Ariza Watch
Lakers of Fire — ... The only real potential complication is if the Lakers prove to be as cheap as they are currently reported to be and refuse to budge off surpassing the mid-level exception in their offers to Ariza.  If they take the hard line there, then suddenly a number of other teams pose a threat to the Lakers’ efforts to keep their defensive ace.  The Cavs and Rockets have made their interest in Ariza known (so have the Clippers, but come on, seriously) and no doubt any other contender armed with a mid-level exception would gladly throw ...

IC Cold Links: Pacers Begin Bargain Shopping
Indy Cornrows — ... about the Pacers' interest in Marcin Gortat and Fabricio Oberto. Ron Artest reportedly piquing Cleveland's interest I imagine the Cavs would rather sign Ariza but Ronnie may be the next option for the right price. Artest has indicated that he wants to assess a team's championship capabilities when signing but I'd think any team that considers themselves a championship contender will have to think long and hard about adding Ronnie to the mix. Cavaliers Free Agency Update: Villanueva Gone, Artest and Ariza Targeted?
WaitingForNextYear — ... it is to leave money on the table. There will be other suitors for Artest as well, so he would have to really think this is the right place for him to go in order to win the title, and he would have to be willing to leave money on the table. As for the sign and trade possibilities- let me ask you this, how often do those actually happen? But, he could battle Daniel Gibson for best haircut designs. It Looks Like My Prayers Have Been Answered: Turkoglu Deal Debunked
Raptors Rapture | A Toronto Raptors Blog — ... So there you have it Raptors fans, Hedo Turkoglu, the most overrated free agent on the market, will not be in Toronto next season. The best bet for the Raptors is to sign Shawn Marion back or sign Trevor Ariza, who ESPN reported this morning is likely out of LA. Both are a much better fit for our team than Hedo Turkoglu. Sources are saying that Shawn Marion is getting a lot less attention on the open market than expected. That is great news for Bryan Colangelo, who was rumored to be willing to offer Marion in the $6-7 million range. If interest in Marion continues to be sparse, ...

Where He’ll Land: 2009 NBA Free Agents
DownSwinging.com — ... Trevor Ariza: Another talented swingman for the Lakers, Ariza finds himself in a very unexpected position. As a restricted Free Agent, Ariza was almost certain to re-up with the Lakers, then enjoy the summer months as a defending NBA champion. However, the Lakers are only willing to offer Ariza the mid-level exception of $5.6m. Ariza took this as a slap in the face, and is now looking for greener pastures. The two teams, I see most competitively vying for Ariza’s signature are the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Houston Rockets. Both are in ...

Year Zero, 2.0
ClipperBlog.com Blog for the Los Angeles NBA Clippers Fans — ... The wings? Still a concern. According to sources, the Clippers’ brass is gradually coming around to the idea that Al Thornton might be best utilized off the bench. Unfortunately, their only other options at the SF right now are Mardy Collins and Quentin Richardson — they of the combined 21.16 PER, plantar fasciitis, and a sore back. With the Richardson deal, the Clippers will be just barely under the cap, though they acquired a $7.3M trade exception. Sir Charles In Charge | An NBA Blog — ... Don’t be surprised if Trevor Ariza fires his agent David Lee before the ink on his contract with the Rockets dries. Lee tried to strong-arm the Lakers into offering his client more money by threatening to take the mid-level from another team if the Lakers didn’t increase their offer.
