Michael Smith of ESPN reports that Urlacher and the Bears have agreed to a contract extension that will give Urlacher a $6 million signing bonus and a $1 million bump in salary each of the next four years. Just in case you guys missed it in the headlines today, the Bears and Brian Urlacher finally agreed on a deal that made both sides happy. It was definitely only a matter of time until both parties got this done, so now I am just glad it is over with, especially with camp starting on Tuesday. He’s the heart and soul of the Bears defense and while the team has been very busy keeping their own players happy this offseason (Tommie Harris, Robbie Gould, Alex Brown, Lance Briggs, Desmond Clark, Rashied Davis), locking up Brian (a six-time Pro Bowler and one of the best at his position) was perhaps the biggest no-brainer.
