Lowell Offer
Published 11/8/2007 at YankeesRedSox.com
Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald is reporting that the Red Sox have made a "really strong" offer to Mike Lowell. The deal is 3 years guaranteed. This according to a club source. Let's hope Lowell isn't like Theo Epstein in that he doesn't mind his contract negotiations leaked to the press. Silverman continues to say that the Red Sox have also considered alternative players should they lose Lowell. One idea is to have Kevin Youkilis move to 3rd and promote Chris Carter to play 1st/dh with David Ortiz. The Dodgers are making a very hard push, which would take another suitor out of the A-Rod running. [Palm ...

Lowell Update: Damage Control Begins Now?

The Boston Herald reports that a "really strong offer" has been extended to Mike Lowell.  Who provided the opinion on the package?  A "club source". Isn't that kind of like asking a GOP flack for a report on the Iraq War?

Red Sox Make Strong Offer to Lowell
Published 11/8/2007 by Dan at Sports of Boston
In summary the Sox made what is a “very strong” offer to Mike Lowell for a 3 year deal. This deal I would expect to be 12-13 million a year. I’m not sure how much he is worth considering his normal career numbers. Mike Lowell is a gold glove guy with a solid bat. But for the price of 12-13 million you have to wonder if the money could be better spent. The Article from the Boston Herald’s Michael Silverman ORLANDO — While they are not sending out any take-it-or-leave-it signals to his camp, the ...
