The Red Sox have signed their first-round pick Casey Kelly, a combination shortstop and pitcher. Kelly will be assigned to the Rookie League Gulf Coast Red Sox. GM Theo Epstein said that Kelly will start as a shortstop in the minors and eventually be eased in as a pitcher.
