Well, thank God THAT is over. I can appreciate that the NBA (cough) wanted (cough) this matchup, but, in my opinion, the 2008 NBA Playoffs provided little zip. Unless you count a new-found hatred not seen in these parts since Reggie Miller. Has there been such a pompous ass built overnight as quickly as Paul Pierce? I used to like the guy, always felt for him being stuck on a team going nowhere, did a lot for the team in the community, never really bitched. Now, the team goes out and buys/acquires/is given (cough, hack) superstars to surround his pouty ass and all of a sudden he grabs the ego of Paris Hilton. Sports Journalists’ Salaries, Take II

Received many emails about our take yesterday on sports journalists’ salaries. Most of them involved disagreements with our guesstimates. Gawker had an interesting take: “...a handful of lucky guys sit around spouting completely unverifiable opinions on ballgames and burning $100 bills to fuel their tailgating barbecues.” One editor wrote that it was “ballsy,” which we found funny, because most of the guys on that list are more recognizable than a third of the athletes they cover, and they’re making more money.
