Morning Roundup (Howry, Greene)
Rotoprofessor — ... Joe Strauss of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (click here for the article) is reporting that the Padres have acquired Khalil Greene in exchange for 2 players, though their names have yet to be revealed.  Greene, who suffered a broken hand ending his season in July, hit just .213 with 10 HR in 389 AB during the 2008 season.  He was just as bad at home vs. on the road (.215 vs. .212) and is just a career .248 hitter.  I think that’s more along the lines of what you should expect, though I’m very confused about his power.  Of his 10 HR, 7 of them actually ...

Khalil Greene Acquired
Rockin' the Red — ... I can live with it. Just don't look at Khalil Greene's power numbers and expect him to become some form of legitimate "protection" in the lineup. I'd be more worried about him becoming a vacuum in the 6 or 7 spot if anything. Full stats on Greene can be found here. He flies out a lot - 47.6% of the time. Pujols hits fly balls 37.4% of the time, and Cesar Izturis had a 31.2 FB%, for what it's worth. Further Reading: STLToday MLB Trade Rumors

Greene Deal Basically Done
C70 At The Bat — Papers in both San Diego and St. Louis are reporting it, so it's about as official as it gets without a press release. Reading the comments on the San Diego site, it looks like Greene was a fan favorite over there, which doesn't necessarily mean much, but hopefully it indicates he's not a jerk.  A minor thing, to be sure, but it can carry some weight, I believe. Bernie gives the strengths and weaknesses of the new shortstop and after reading that I feel a little better about the deal.  It does require considering last year more an aberration ...

Thirsty Thursday Daily "Linkin Logs" (12/4/08)
The Bad News Bloggers — ... could take a while as well. The Knicks, regardless of dumping Isiah Thomas, are still the butt of numerous jokes in the league. Besides Stephon Marbury's "Waive me or play me" statement, the Knicks are so desperate for a guard they may actually watch Cuttino Mobley retire, and try to sign Allan Houston, their assistant GM. As we said yesterday, Dustin Pedroia signed a 6 year, $40.5 million extension. Also, the Cardinals traded for the Padres Kalil Greene, The Braves acquired Javiar Vazquez, The ...

Cards trade for SS Greene
Cardinal Nation Globe — The Cardinals have traded for shortstop Khalil Greene. I like this move. Greene has a good glove and I fully expect him to rebound over a horrendous offensive season last year. Also, his offensive numbers should improve away from Petco Park in San Diego.

Greene trade analysis
Friar Forecast — ... I’ve mentioned a time or two here that this blog is far from a new source, and considering the deal happened last night, this post isn’t really much different. But I figured I’d toss out a few links on the Greene trade — I’ll (hopefully) have my own “analysis” up within the next few days. Here are the links: ...

Khalil Greene is no Ozzie
Fungoes — ... their team’s trade of shortstop Khalil Greene to the Cardinals as reminescent of another trade that brought a Padre shortstop to St. Louis. With apologies to Lloyd Bentsen, we knew Ozzie Smith, we watched Ozzie Smith. Khalil, you’re no Ozzie Smith. ...
