The Pittsburgh Steelers released running back Najeh Davenport Friday, according to a report on NFL Network. Davenport, who played in 15 games - starting one - for the Steelers last season, became expendable when University of Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall was selected by the team in the first round of April's NFL draft.
