The Mitchell Report is coming!
The Mitchell Report is coming!
We need our own modern day Paul Revere- except it's more like: one if fewer than twenty names, two if more than twenty names.
The New York Times is reporting that the Report will name FIFTY baseball players, which is quite a bit more than previously expected. The waiting is over at 2 p.m. Eastern tomorrow- when Mitchell will hold his ...
Ghosts of Scandals Past

The Mitchell Report on steroid use in baseball will be released later today and is expected to name about 50 major league players. But this morning, I’ve been thinking about a different scandal.
As part of Hall of Fame week on UmpBump, we posted a poll asking you to vote for players who ought to be in the Hall, but aren’t. The results surprised me. As of this writing, Shoeless Joe Jackson in the lead with 57% of the vote. I, like most baseball fans, know the outline of the story of the Chicago Black Sox and the 1919 World Series, but not the details. The one bit I remember most clearly is the story of the little boy who looked up at Shoeless Joe and pleaded, ...

... on the Cardinals, especially the move for Tejada. Although Miguel never was a feasible option for the Cardinals to acquire themselves, he certainly was being targeted as a third baseman by the Angels, Dodgers, and Giants, among other teams looking to shore up the hot corner. Now that the Miguels - Tejada and Cabrera - are both gone, Scott Rolen becomes a tad more attractive to a big market team like the West Coast 3. It's surprising that the Astros made the move the day before the Mitchell Investigation is supposed to be made public , but perhaps the minimal sentence given to ...

... According to the New York Times, George Mitchell’s report on steroids in baseball — which he will present at 1 p.m. tomorrow — will name 50 Major Leaguers. ESPN, in what might be the longest non-Bill Simmons related story to ever appear on the site, says ...
Merry Christmas baseball: Mitchell Report is your gift

George Mitchell has been the lead investigator for the MLB regarding the use of performance enhancing drugs like steroids. The report will be released tomorrow at 2pm eastern time. The report is said to name about 50 players. The report is supposed to have current and former players included in it, as well as strength and training coaches. There is a lot of pressure on Mitchell to produce some high profile names. From there though there isn’t much to be expected to happen. I don’t see anyone getting suspended and I don’t see fans attendance going down. At this point peoples thirst for blood is what is really ...

Top five sports stories of the day:
5. Fukudome signs with Cubs. Kosuke Fukudome, regarded as one of the best players in Japanese baseball, signed a four year, $48 million dollar deal with the Chicago Cubs today–a deal that will become official if Fukudome passes a physical scheduled for next week. Over his nine season run with the Chunichi Dragons of Japan’s Central League, Fukudome posted 192 homers and a .305 batting average.
