The story, by Ralph Vacchiano, says that if the Giants offered to pay Strahan $8 million this season and make him one of the highest-paid defensive ends in football, Strahan would almost certainly accept it and decide to play another season, rather than retire. But Vacchiano’s story also makes clear that Strahan hasn’t issued an ultimatum, ...

Michael Strahan Wants $8M to Not Retire
Published 5/17/2008 by David Kindervater at EMQB - NFL Blogcast
... a seven-year deal, he insists money isn’t the issue. That’s very funny. Of course money is the issue. It’s the only issue. Michael has his Super Bowl ring. He hates training camp. And he would rather not wake up Monday mornings in pain. So why doesn’t he just call it quits? Because he can make more money playing than he can in retirement. And he can still play. He had 11 sacks last season. We just need to see how badly the Giants want him back.
