As usual, the Eagles dug up a familiar face to fix a special teams problem (as when they brought back Koy Detmer as a holder for David Akers last season), bringing back Reno Mahe and releasing J.R. Reed after the return game blew Sunday’s matchup against the Pack. Despite leading the NFL in punt return yardage in 2005, Mahe was so highly coveted that no team brought him in during training camp this summer for a look. Nonetheless, he has shown he can catch the ball on punt returns, something that newbies Greg Lewis and Reed couldn’t do.
