Hooray for the old guys!
Mike Mussina and Johnny Damon, part of what I refer to as the New York Yankees’ Geritol Generation, deserve some props.
Mussina improved to 4-3 yesterday with six one-run innings in a 6-1 victory against Seattle.
I hope young phenoms Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy were watching closely.
Mussina has slop for a fastball by major league standards, mid-80s and sometimes reaching 87-88. But, when he’s right the guy is a maestro with the baseball.

... on the outfield of the future. The notion that Gardner, Jackson and Tabata will all make it to the big leagues and should supplant Melky is highly unlikely, as far as I'm concerned. It's worth keeping an eye on how the younger guys are progressing, as well as how Melky is progressing, because he is young, and contrary to popular belief, he does have room to grow and put up numbers greater than that of an average center fielder in this league.
