Finally, after a few weeks of incredible action, it appears this morning is a morning to actually collect our thoughts a bit, and scan the net for some reading. The 3rd round of the NHL Playoffs begin on Thursday, and until then, let’s see what we got here: Mark Cuban blogs about his team … So back to the trade deadline. We went back and forth about whether or not we should trade Devin. We knew he was a good point guard, with the potential to be amazing. What we didn't know was how long that would take. On one hand, we didn't have enough ...

... is in our list of regular sites to visit. Cuban is always straight up with his posts and doesn’t hold back. At the end of last week, he put up this post , breaking down every aspect of the Jason Kidd / Devin Harris trade. It’s a great look inside the workings of a complicated, risky deal to land a future Hall of Famer. Check out this excerpt from the post about the long-term ramifications of pulling the trigger on the deal: But the current year wasn’t really my personal deciding factor. Looking at our future cap structure was. In doing a deal for JKidd, we created a ...

... . I get the point -- without hanging on to Bynum, and getting Pau Gasol, Bryant probably never gets that deal. But who knows that transpired between Bryant and the team to make Bryant a tad sheepish? And in the end, isn't the Gasol deal -- a large influx of salary and luxury tax -- really something that the owners should be thanked for? Especially in the week that Mark Cuban claims that GMs don't even have the power to consummate deals? ...

... Furthermore, with Mark Cuban's recent comments that GM's are held essentially powerless to the will of the owner, that would make Morway third man in this totem pole. Bird has had success but the roster is fairly a mess. We'll see what effect, if any, this new "right hand man" will have in Indiana. ...

... to talk to Mavs fans. His readers get amazing insight into where the team is going, why decisions were made, and just how much Mark cares about this team. ... Moreover, Cuban wrote in his blog last week that he had made the trade in large part to save money down the road: “In doing a deal for JKidd, we created a situation where Devin, Mo Ager, Hass and what we would have paid Ghana would no longer be on our cap” (emphasis added). That sounds like someone relieved that he didn’t have to make a decision on how much to pay Diop. (In that same blog, he hints that the Mavs could be rebuilding in 2009-10, after Kidd’s contract goes away and the Mavs set aside cap space for the big 2010 free agent ...

Aus einem aktuellen Blogeintrag von Mark Cuban, Besitzer der Dallas Mavericks: One thing about making trades, as Nelly told me early on, 99pct of them that you think might happen, never happen. Here is what does happen. GMs get on the phone and talk and talk and talk. But rarely is the GM actually empowered to make a trade. So they play the game of "having to go back to their owners". I would tell Donnie all the time, "You have the authority to say yes, when they get to the point of commitment". When we thought things would get close, we would get the "Now I have to get my ...

But were we disappointed because of our 51st pick in Foster, or because we had been fed a bunch of malarkey from various sources over the past month, about us moving up in the draft, and getting younger at no costs. And creditable sources at that, especially one from our owner who has historically pulled through with his wallet without thinking twice. ...
