Technology Could Render Ticket Scalping Obsolete
While you weren’t looking, MLB has slowly started rolling in new technology that makes going to the games a bit different than in the past. The days of putting your ticket stubs into a scrapbook or frame for posterity sake may soon go the way of the Dodo bird. What's more, could scalping become obsolete due to new technology, as well? I found this interesting. Just wondering if the scalpers will come up with technology to beat the system. That, and couldn't those looking to purchase simply forego using electronic means in case they wanted the option of dumping tickets on the open market? Still, the technology moves forward.

Couldn't you just forward your text message along to another phone?

     You would think so, right?...

    From MLB's FAQ on Tickets@Phone:

Can I forward my Tickets@Phone ticket to a friend?

No. Forwarding or otherwise transferring a Tickets@Phone message will result in the ticket(s) being invalidated without the right to a refund. Each Tickets@Phone ticket is valid for one-time entry for a single seat.

Technology Could Render Ticket Scalping Obsolete

Technology Could Render Ticket Scalping Obsolete Fee fee fi fi fo fo fum I smell smoke from a cerebellum .... it s Maury Brown! As mobile technology continues to become more robust with rich content at the core of their designs (witness Apple s iPhone, as but one example), the use of paperless tickets will most assuredly grow, and with that, the ability to sell those ticket purchases on the secondary market will decline. It’s not the beginning of the end for scalpers, but don’t be surprised if one asks a fan if they want to sell a ticket, and they reply, “Can you hear me now?” while holding up their cell phone. MLB hates competition--especially when they want to scalp the tickets sell them on the secondary market themselves. Best Regards John
