That is one big hole in the depth chart Links3
So if the headline is "Tanguay Traded" , what's the subhed? Mine is something like, "Flames depart draft without second line" . Tyler's piece on Tanguay Out, Cammallieri In is a good place to start; he demonstrates pretty clearly that Mike C is a replacement for Huselius (who was never going to be returning, and still isn't), not for Tanguay. Thoughts on the draft weekend
Published 6/24/2008 by speeds (noreply@blogger.com) at Irreverent Oiler Fans
A little bit late maybe, but here are my thoughts on some of what transpired this past weekend, both league wide and Oilers specific. (1) Calgary's set of moves - not too much to say, other than I largely agree with Matt and MC79's viewpoints on the two trades. The two trades probably make them weaker, but it remains to be seen what they do with the cap savings. This trade may help them add a decent player to the 2nd line, but will that be worth the anticipated downgrade from Tanguay to Cammalleri? Tanguay - a few last thoughts

I see the Tanguay trade - or rather the need for Tanguay to be traded - as disturbing because it smacks of bad decisions bleeding into good ones. It's executive scrambling, as it were. Tanguay was a checker on this club last year because the forward ranks were so thin, despite a relatively robust roster budget. His $5M contract became cap-space fodder because that robust budget is bloated with poor value players. This isn't the Senators ...

It's Finally Happened

After the Flames traded away Alex Tanguay a week ago, a lot of great hockey analysts around these parts have made some great points. 1. Mike Cammalleri is not a replacement for Alex Tanguay. 2. The Flames no longer have a second line 3. This move was made a necessity due to a long line of bad deals I agree with all these arguments. Firstly, I'd like to admit that I personally advocated for a Tanguay trade after the playoffs. I think MG made a very good point at the time though, that ...

Well, at least Calgary probably got worse (next year, anyway)
