Hate to say we told you so, Milwaukee, but ... Yeah, you know the rest. That's what fans in all corners of Red Sox Nation are saying this morning as word spreads that Eric Gagne, the one-time near saboteur of a Red Sox World Series run, has been ousted as closer of the Milwaukee Brewers . ... : All-hail the bullpen-by-committee. The Brewers have actually gained a game in the standings since I slagged on them on Friday. I wonder if the Gagne-drama is enough of a distraction to save Yost's job for a while should things continue to be mediocre in Milwaukee. It'll be an academic question if they get more games like this one out of Ryan Braun (2-4, 2HR, 2 RBI). ...

Earlier this week, it looked as though Red Sox fans were going to be denied their chance to see their beloved Eric Gagne up close and personal when Brewers' manager Ned Yost unceremoniously yanked Gagne from the closer role after he notched a league-leading FIFTH blown save. To Sox fans, this seemed a little crazy. Not because benching Gagne is crazy, but because after his performance last year, it's kind of like paying $10 million for a broken-down ratty old monkey windup toy, and then getting mad and throwing the monkey away when it couldn't play a tune on ...
