MANNY RAMIREZ IS BASEBALL'S IDIOT SAVANT

... warning track, climbed up the wall to high-five some fans, then made a throw to double off the runner on first (video here). As a tribute to "Manny being himself," as people like to say, SportsCenter compiled the slugger's strangest moments on and off the diamond. I admit: I laughed out loud at a couple of these, and I usually don't laugh at anything. Except death. And maybe fat kids getting hurt. Man I hate fat kids. [Awful Announcing]

I had no idea he planned on jumping up the wall, but I figured he was going to do a Lambeau Leap, so I prepared to grab his arm and pull him up. As I reached out, he slapped my hand, dropped down and made a hell of a play. Thats why, I'm not sure I'd call it a high-five. Maybe more of a slap 4. "Holy crap, heck yeah!"? Apparently this guy thinks with my brain, too. ------------- While we're on the subject, how about a bonus? Via Awful Announcing , here's a montage of some of Manny's Greatest Hits, if you will. ... definitely do.
I think my favorite thing is Ramirez's first career hit. It was a ground rule double that never even came close to going out of the park. Manny naturally thought he'd hit a home run and continued past 2nd. Right there, you knew we had a special player.
Anyway, as much fun as people make of Ramirez, he probably has the best mind set ever for a baseball player. It's clear he never let's anything get to him ever.

Inspired by this play, on which he managed to give a high five to a fan in the middle of a play (in case you missed that, too). H/T here and here.

... I know Ichiro doesn’t deserve it this year, but I’m going to play the irrational vote card here and just do it. I do feel bad leaving Vladimir Guerrero (LAA) out, I don’t feel bad leaving Magglio Ordonez (DET) out. There are so many deserving candidates, I’ll make it up.
Who deserves it (AL): Josh Hamilton (TEX), Carlos Quentin (CHW) and Manny Ramirez. We will see Manny-being-Manny highlights at the All-Star Game this year.
Who I want to see (NL): Ryan ...
