The Big Lead: Still Down. Thanks, Schrutebag. Links14
If you have attempted to access The Big Lead over the last 24 hours, the attractive image above -- good Lord, those rectangles are ENORMOUS ... and they're headed straight for us! -- is all you've been able to see. It's pretty, but it ain't that pretty. That's right, folks: Almost 24 hours after Colin Cowherd's little stunt yesterday , The Big Lead is still down. We contacted the ... [link]

... It’s finally happened…..the WWL (who I won’t link to) is firing back at the blogosphere and not in a nice way. For those of you who read TheBigLead (no need to link to it), sorry but one of your favorite sites is down for awhile because of ESPN Radio host, Colin Cowherd. You can read all about what ‘went down’. Consider yourself updated. Actually, the site went back up as I was writing this.

... So the whole 'sphere knows that Coward begged listeners to crash The Big Lead's site yesterday (I'm not linking it so there's a break in the hits). Well I'm going to keep a running Photolog of his webcam today. Let the photoshopping begin! I'll replace these with the best....feel free to email them to awfulannouncing@gmail.com.

Maintaining blogger street cred: We hate Colin Cowherd too
Published 4/6/2007 by Dex <info@gaslampball.com> at Gaslamp Ball
... OK. Before anybody starts pointing in our direction yelling, "Hey look! They're not saying anything! They must be with him!" We just want to make it clear that for the record, Gaslamp Ball hates Colin Cowherd too. That's just right at this moment, and it's nothing real personal or anything, but we don't want the angry mob of bloggers that's gathered to think that we're not cool. Cause hey. We're cool. No, we don't mind if you guys smoke. That's cool too.

... It's been over 24 hours since The Big Lead was maliciously taken off the web by Colin Cowherd. (Who's now being called "Schrutebag" by the Deadspin universe) The more I think about what's happened over the past 24 hours, the more outraged I become.

... We don't want to come off as Simmons-haters; we recognize what he has done for sportsbloggers, paving the way.  But sometimes we feel the need to call him out, because he doesn't use his influence positively anymore.  Prime example - you may have read about the stunt by Colin Cowherd, which lead to the shut down of

Colin Cowherd, Schrutebag

... . For a few minutes this morning, TBL was back up and running (even had a link to one of our posts) but shortly after, it got overloaded again. What does this mean? A little sports blog has basically been shut down by an angry, bitter radio talk show host. Nice work, Cowherd and ESPN. Nothing like an 800-pound gorilla bitch-slapping a friggin ' mouse for the helluva it. You know, I never really liked Colin Cowherd but listened cuz it's sports radio and something is better than nothing. At least, that's what I thought until yesterday. As of now, ESPN radio, once my staple for drive time, is permanently off. Not that Cowherd, the narcissistic blowhard, gives a rat's ass. Deadspin

LSU Preview, Colin Cowherd talks up LSU, etc.

... Last week, apparently Schrutebag (aka one of the better known radio names in the sports talk universe) anointed LSU the best football program of the past decade (or perhaps it was "so far THIS decade" which would be a few years shorter). While it's flattering to have that label, and I'd certainly put us Top 5 over that span, I'd have to cede the title of Best to someone else (probably USC). Just for posterity though, I looked up the records of a number of the more successful programs over recent years, and here are the results: ...

Colin Cowherd Is A Woman Trapped Inside A Mans Body
Published 10/10/2007 at SPORTSbyBROOKS
... " Cowherd, our favorite woman-trapped-inside-a-man's-body AM radio celebrity! For the 30 seconds we listened, Schrutebag talked about why the Yankees should fire Joe Torre immediately, 'else lose credibility with the fans. She (He) noted that if George Steinbrenner didn't make a decisive move, the organization would be "hammered" by newspapers and other media. But much to our relief, he added that the Yankees shouldn't worry about reax on the internet: " It's not that big deal with the blogs because they really have no influence ". Right on, no wonder he went on the air and begged listeners to help him shut down The Big Lead , breaking federal law. And then ...
