The Brief History of Walter Sharpe
The Brief History of Walter Sharpe
Walter Sharpe has been getting a lot of attention lately...especially after getting drafted with the 2nd overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2008 NBA Draft. Sharpe was ultimately traded to the Pistons, many people are calling him a major sleeper. But the kid has a sketchy background to overcome.......can he put the past behind him like Caron Butler has?

Hoe Cake Kwame Brown Heads to Motown
Truth About It - Washington Wizards Blog — ... Good luck with that one Motor City. Will Kwame finally find his way under consummate vet, Antonio McDyess? Or will his attitude travel the path of Rasheed Wallace? How will any of these guys affect Walter Sharpe? In any case, $8 million over two-years is not exactly a low-risk move. ...

How good are NBA GMs at drafting players?HoopsAvenue
Gilbert Arenas . Carlos Boozer . Michael Redd . What do all those players have in common? Well, in case you had forgotten (which would be hard for a serious hoops fan to do considering how constantly we are reminded), they were all selected in the 2nd round of the NBA Draft and are now bonafide stars. Compare those three with the likes of number one overall selections Kwame Brown and ...
Cal Bears and The NBA, The Late PostThe Play In California
It's been awhile since I last wrote a post here, and I apologize guys. The Hornets having been knocked out the playoffs hurt me bad. I was protesting the NBA and sports, but happy times have arrived. I'm proud of our Cal basketball players that entered the draft this season. Ryan Anderson - 21st pick in the 1st round is now a New Jersey Net! Devon Hardin - 20th pick in the 2nd round (50th ...
Cavs Go Big, Times 3Cleveland Cavaliers
So as you guys probably already know, the Cavaliers got 3 players on Thursday night’s 2008 NBA Draft. The first being J.J. Hickson out of NC State, taken with the 19th pick overall. The second being Darnell Jackson out of Kansas, in a trade. Jackson was acquired for a 2008 2nd round pick (the lower of ours and Chicago’s). The third being Sasha Kaun out of Kansas, in a trade as ...
Drafting For The Real World In The 2nd RoundSactown Royalty
With the possible exception of Ball In Cup , I don't think that anybody here saw (or particularly liked) our 2nd round picks at the time that they were made. Sean Singletary received a collective "Meh!" at best, and Patrick Ewing Jr. brought down the house (and damn near the SB Nation server). The 2nd round of the NBA draft is a romantic place, where conversation of the legends of Carlos ...
2008 NBA Draft: 2nd Round BreakdownNew England Sports Blog
Pick by Pick Breakdown Round Two; 31. Minnesota Timberwolves : Nikola Pekovic [C; Serbia] According to some this pick was lock ever since the Timberwolves realized they'd be picking here. Pekovic has great size and is an intimidating defender. He does need to work on his offense a little bit and his basketball IQ could be put in question. After trading for Kevin Love, Pekovic will ...
Rider's Jason Thompson Represents MAACBig Daddy Sports Fan
Rider Broncs big man Jason Thompson was selected in the 1st round of this year's NBA draft. He was the pick for Reggie Theus and the Sacramento Kings at number 12 overall. What? This kid was projected late 1st, early 2nd, at best. I covered Jason as a freshmen and sophmore during my days at Niagara. The teams participate in the mid-major Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Jason was a first year
2008 NBA Draft ReviewRecliner GM
I’m not one to start giving out draft grades, so I’m going use a basic formula for each team’s performance: How would I feel as a fan, today, if this was my favorite team (note: I have omitted the 2 teams without a pick, ATL and NO, and the 3 that only had a 2nd round pick, LAL, DEN and DAL). I’m going to put each team into 1 of 4 categories: Pumped, Ticked, Bored and ...
The "Smokescreen" DraftRip City Project | A Portland Trailblazers blog
Now that we've all had time to recover from yesterday's mania, it's time to go through everybody's reactions to what should be Kevin Pritchard's last hurrah in the NBA Lottery. You can see all that we came up with in the post below, and while all the 2nd Round picks were fine and dandy (typical KP maneuvering) Bayless was the real prize. A quick analysis on him shows just how well he's ...

Taking a closer look at Suns draft picksFanster.com
Despite rumor after rumor, the Phoenix Suns stood pat, and kept the number 15 selection in the first round of the NBA Draft on Thursday. With that selection, they chose Stanford big man Robin Lopez, who was rated by most experts as the 2nd best 7-footer named Lopez in this year’s draft. Brooke Lopez was drafted 10th overall by New Jersey. Seriously though, the Suns did improve their ...
Joe Crawford Now a LakerA Sea Of Blue
Congratulations to Joe Crawford for being selected in the 2nd round of the NBA draft.  Crawford went #58 to the Los Angeles Lakers . Crawford really came on in the last 2/3 of this season after a slow recovery from minor knee surgery last year and a bit of a rocky start with Kentucky's new coach, Billy Gillispie.  As the year progressed, Crawford and teammate Ramel Bradley ...
NBA Draft, 2nd RoundThe Big Lead
Poor Darrell Arthur. He was supposed to be a lottery lock, and then he slid all the way down to 27th and Portland because some previously unreported kidney issues bubbled up. The real loser? DeAndre Jordan, who left Texas A&M early, and then didn’t get a guaranteed contract. Ouch. We won’t update 2nd round picks as they happen, but we’ll be mocking them in the comments.

The NBA Draft is on tap for tonight from New York. Sixty names will be called, maybe 35-40 of them will be on NBA rosters in November. Of course, the Phoenix Suns have 2 selections. The fifteenth overall pick in the first round, and the 48th pick in the 2nd round. Reports say the Suns are exploring trades from around the league in an effort to secure another first round pick. There’s ...
The NBA Draft for Euros begins in the 2nd roundBall in Europe - European Basketball Blog
With the NBA Draft only two days from now, I made some more reflections about this annual ceremony that is the hope for the NBA fans to get additional talent for their team. The trend to draft Europeans has slowed down a bit these years after some casting errors or refusals to join the big league. And except if you are an extraordinary talent which goes to the lottery, it is not worth ...
