The Day the Dallas Mavericks Died?
Dirk Nowitzki is hurt. Jason Kidd, the player they mortgaged their future for, has not been as good as advertised. They're in the seventh seed and falling. After Dallas lost to San Antonio on Sunday, and Denver won, the Maverick's season is slipping away. [link]

Mavs are between rock and a hard place.    They were not going anywhere before the Kidd trade.    They made a trade that mortgaged them, but did not have enough upside to move them to the top of the West.     They were, and are done.

Hyped this up. Although some people might call Dirk's injury a blessing in disguise, I'd call it death. Even if they end up in the playoffs, their odds of  getting to the Finals are on par with those of the Nets.
