EthanJaynes You're so funny Carolyn! -
MoonDogLeft We post images of fully clothed chicks at MoonDog Sports too.

The On Deck Circle A tip from a low-ranked blog that's acknowledged the same issue: Get another writer for the site who specializes in that stuff, allowing you to focus on your sports writing and your personal passions. You won't lost as much traffic, and you still get to operate the site how you initially envisioned. It's not perfect, but I'd rather my friends do the girl stuff and I'll just write.-
MoonDogLeft As I noted within the post, I'm not eliminating the chick galleries, just curtailing them to perhaps one or two a week.
I've already got a great writer to help with sports content and maybe I'll hire an intern to chase down chick pics.
Thanks for commenting.

The Zoner Low Ranked Blog is the name of my new band.-
MoonDogLeft LOL.
-
-
TheProgram I like that name Zoner....and great job MoonDog. -
BustaBucket I love this post. So true. We are yet to get into all the chick related stuff. Although, yesterday, as soon as we posted a chica in Trail Blazer apple bottom sweats, we got swooped up by Yahoo! Shameful.-
MoonDogLeft I hear you. I thought posting chicks would mean getting readers to stay long enough to read the sports-related posts. I was wrong. Bounce rates confirm readers visited, checked out the babes, and off they went.
So what's the point of posting chicks if they aren't going to read the sports posts?
Thanks for the comment.

-
Arrowhead Addict Great post, MoonDog.-
MoonDogLeft Thanks dude.
-

matt All traffic isn't created equal. If posting pics of chicks isn't what you really want to do, then perhaps the visitors that flock to those types of posts aren't the ones you're trying to attract.
Everyone has their own goals, but when it comes to my own blog, I'm less concerned about page views and more concerned about creating a space where a community of fans can gather and discuss the news of the day. Pics of half-naked chicks might generate more hit-and-run visitors, but like you said, it doesn't result in reader loyalty.-
Douglass C. Perry This is a great post: honest, reflective, and real. Thanks for putting it so squarely.
Now um...about that next hot chick update...what's your ETA???
-
MoonDogLeft That would be today - Kara Monaco. LOL.
-
-
EthanJaynes Well said Matt. -
MoonDogLeft There it is. That's the purist in me talking loud and clear. That's what I wanted to be. I became a fairly popular site for reasons I didn't want them to be.
Thanks for the comment.
-
Sarge Right on. WFNY has always been only about sports. Sure, we may not have the spikes in pageviews, but the loyal community has grown every month.
Great post MD. Glad to see you going back to the roots.

AEM You know MoonDog I never viewed a blog good or bad by the hits that it gets. There are so many good ones that don't get the hits they should. And yes, there are probably some blogs that get way too many hits for what they do (lol).
I view a blog and the blogger who runs it by the way they are with the people that come across their little nest on the net.
I once asked you something in a PM and your answer was not only swift, but also encouraging.
I truly hope that whatever road you follow is the best one for you and your blog, because I, as a blogger, am willing to say that yours (along with some others on here) are what motivates me to do better with mine. (And no I don't mean I go check out the "hot babes" to get all excited LOL)

BustaBucket C.R.E.A.M. -
MoonDogLeft Thanks dude. Page views are good if you're concerned with generating revenue, but that isn't much of an issue for me. I'd rather make a little dough and have a great sports blog than a lot of dough and have a mediocre sports blog with lots of chicks.
Take it easy.
-
-
KellyDwyer At the very least, and I know we're discussing a specific type of model or semi-celebrity, is it possible to refrain from calling them "chicks"?-
MoonDogLeft I'll call them chicks, you call them what you want. -
And One Thanks KD, for raising the respect bar.

sports2debate Great post MoonDog...
Has Lent hit you that hard? Don't give up chicks MoonDog, don't do it :)
Anyways, referring to sports blogging...the best things in life are not easy and don't happen overnight, but they sure as heck are worthwhile!
-
MoonDogLeft I don't observe Lent but if I did, I'd give up smoking crack before I gave up chicks.

jdyme1 This is great stuff Moondog. I read your site a decent amount and I think the sports content is great. Ironically enough, I was originally brought there by a picture of a chick, but I check your posts when I am directed to them through Ballhype pretty frequently since then. We are having a similar discussion over at my site and this post really helped inspire us not to sell our souls quite yet. If you aren't in it for the money (which we aren't, and maybe neither are you), then why not just do what we love? Sports. Go with your gut, and good luck!-
MoonDogLeft Thanks dude. I won't be completely devoid of chicks - if Jennifer Aniston ever gets naked I can assure you I'll be the first to post the images. But I'm not going to spend several hours of my day just looking for a chick that can be found through a simple search on Google.
It's all about staying true to yourself. Be who you are and let your writing reflect it. Other than that, I don't know what more you can do.
