"The Isiah Rules": John Paxson's Free Pass
Isiah Thomas the GM has been getting absolutely crushed by the media lately. However, not John Paxson despite the Bulls similar slow start. But a much closer GM contrast will show that Isiah has done a much better GM job than has been reported and John Paxson has done much worse than you think. It all starts with the rosters that each took over in 2003. Get the WHOLE story here.

Wow, every time I forget what a douchebag you are Matt, you have to go and remind me!

First starters, you might want to take note Matt - this article isn't about the Bulls, or bashing your beloved Bulls, so you don't need to play Defender Man here.  It's about pointing out the differences and similarities of the Bulls and the Knicks roster moves over the years, and the difference in the way those moves have been covered by the general media.

Are you even capable of grasping such nuances?

does this mean I won't make your next link-begging post about the history or influence of sports bloggers?

There's no 'general media' opinion on the Bulls. There's plenty in that group who question what the Bulls have done and are doing. So unlike the vague premise of the linked post, I looked at specifically what MODI had to say about the Bulls moves, and found it uninspiring. And said so.

Someone needs to Stop Stop Mike Lupica! am I right?!?

Sigh.  There is a "general media" consensus about Isiah Thomas as GM, right?  Can we agree that generally speaking the media thinks Isiah Thomas has done a poor job?  Can we agree to that much?

And can we agree that John Paxson isn't considered generally by the media to have done a poor job?   Like you said, there isn't a general opinion on Paxson's job out there.  But there is one for Isiah, okay?  There's your difference in perceptions.

Modi's post addresses those differing perceptions.

You don't have to agree with him.  That's totally cool.  But this post wasn't about the Bulls specifically, so it seems... pretty ignorant... to judge the whole article based on what you thought of that one aspect of the article.  Or "skimming" the article.

If you can't bother to read the full article in its entirety, maybe you can withhold your negative comments?

Whatever contrarian point he's making about Isiah, my comment here (I left one on the actual post about the Knicks) wasn't about the whole article, just the part about Paxson and the Bulls. And there's plenty of analysis by MODI (who has his own opinion, I don't care what the consensus is) on that very subject, whether it was the main 'point' of the article or not.

Plus the post has 'John Paxson's free pass' in the title and "John Paxson has done much worse than you think" in the ballhype description. I'd say it's fair game to criticize that analysis.

So stuff your sighs in a sack.

Hardwood Paroxysm — ... gets to suck some Hydra tail tonight. The Celtics get the Knicks in the Garden tonight and, after coming off an excrutiating loss to SuperLebron, they are not going to relax. Its really like Doc Rivers and Isiah are the same coach, except 1 is an insufferable idiot that wouldn't have a job except for his pissy-pants boss thinks too highly of him and the talent on his team. The other is Isiah (fascinating read!). I wonder what ...

Hardwood Paroxysm — ... . Half of the Bulls should be traded. The last time these two teams worked on a deal , it was practically a lose/lose for each of them. So, go ahead and put Marbury, Crawford, NRob, Jerome James and ZBo in Chicago and let's send Gordon, Wallace, Ty, Noah and Duhon to NY. It's almost as arbitrary and senseless as commanding our troops in the Iraq War. Except funnier. WAYYYYYYYY funnier. ...
