The Lakers Are Going To The NBA Finals (Sasha Vujacic Is An A-Hole)
I'll be the first to admit that I just didn't think the Lakers had enough. I couldn't for the life of me understand how Pau Gasol, Derrick Fisher, and Lamar Odom were going to be enough for Kobe to take the team to the next level. Boy was I wrong. All Kobe did tonight was pour in 39 points and lead his Lakers into the NBA Finals. Oh and Sasha Vujacic either made some people very happy or ... [link]

... Awful Announcing points out that the spread was 7.5 and that three gave the Lakers an 8-point win. It's a good thing this was the last game of the series or Vujacic would be getting a hard foul next game.

... have possibly picked the Lakers at -7.5 or whatever large number, even at home, because it was an elimination game for Timmy! And from the beginning you looked locked. In fact, after Parker drilled that three, you looked lock. Random prop bet odds on Sasha during the NBA Finals just went to “broken kneecap, 12:1″ as well as “Tim Donaghy-like indictment, 9.5:1″. LAKERS WIN, VUJACIC SCREWS BETTORS

As I watched the end of the game last night, I wondered what the hell Sasha Vujacic was doing when he put up a 3 with less than a second remaining. And then I saw at Awful Announcing that the spread was 7.5. Final Score LA-100 SA-92 Hmm? ...

... Up five with less than ten seconds to go, Pop and the Spurs decided to throw in the proverbial white towel by not fouling. Classy move. But rather than dribble out the clock — like any sane human being — Sasha "The Machine" Vujacic figured he'd launch an uncontested three. And it went in. Final score: 100-92 Lakers. Woops! ...

Lakers to NBA Finals… and Kobe/MJ Discussion

I was at my brother’s baseball game the other day and I couldn’t help but to listen in to a conversation that two guys were having about Kobe Bryant. These gentlemen were obviously Bulls fans, and it was interesting to hear what they had to say about Kobe when it came to comparing him to Michael Jordan. (More after the jump)

A Performance for the Ages: Kobe Drops 39 as Lakers Eliminate Spurs

Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 39 points while shooting 16-30 from the field as his Lakers beat the Spurs 100-92 to eliminate the defending champions 4-1. He had 27 points in the second half, 17 points in the fourth quarter and eight points in the final 2:22. This outburst capped off a remarkable Western Conference Finals for Bryant, who averaged 29.2 ppg on 64-120 (.533) field goal shooting.

Postcards From LA, Vol. 13: One Lakers Fan Tracks His Team Through the NBA Playoffs

I’m not going to tell you that Kobe is a great guy, but Kobe is the most superb basketball player in the universe, an assassin in high tops, and what I truly respect about him is that he not only makes the absolute most of the god given gifts he’s been blessed with (unlike so many pro athletes who take their winning ticket in the genetic lottery for granted), he has an indomitable will.
