EricLip@DugoutCentral Very good article by Thomas Wayne. I happen to agree with him that that Griffey still has something to left to offer even at the advanced baseball age of 39. Griffey really struggled last season, and a change of scenery to the South Side of Chicago did not really help to improve his numbers. The positives I would take is that Griffey managed to stay relatively healthy and though I would not expect him to put up big numbers next season I would think Griffey's numbers will improve somewhat off of a down year. I also think that Tampa Bay would be a great fit for Griffey. Though Seattle is setimental, I agree with Thomas that Griffey will want to play for a contender. Griffey will not be a major part of the Tampa Bay lineup but he could serve very well in a fourth outfielder/DH role. I think playing the full season with what should be a contending team will motivate Griffey and I think the youn Rays could use Griffey's expereince and leadership particulalry in a limeted role. Also I believe Griffey lives in the Orlando area, so certainly the location of Tampa Bay does not hurt the situation.

Teams keep around reserve outfielders who can do specific things, not just old guys who might or might not have one last good season in them as a part-timer. He notes that they had Moises Alou this year (lotta good that did), but Alou was coming off hitting .341. I just don't see the upside to giving him a roster spot at this point. He'll probably ...
