There's a long, detailed description of Clemens' use of steroids.  Doesn't say Pettitte did it (I think, I haven't read all of it yet), but it doesn't pointedly say that he worked out with Clemens & the trainer who supplied Clemens, all at the same time that Clemens' was being supplied by this trainer & using PEDs.

According to McNamee, during the middle of the 2000 season Clemens made it

clear that he was ready to use steroids again. During the latter part of the regular season,

McNamee injected Clemens in the buttocks four to six times with testosterone from a bottle

labeled either Sustanon 250 or Deca-Durabolin that McNamee had obtained from Radomski.

That Clemens stuff is 100% accurate he was doing really bad in 2000 and the game he hit Piazza was the game he turned his career around.

McNamee injected Clemens approximately four times in the buttocks over a several-week period with needles that Clemens provided. Each incident took place in Clemens's apartment at the SkyDome.

There is a lot more detailed and descriptive goodness in that report. Like Paul LoDuca's Dodger stadium memo, & Miguel Tejada's checks, available on Deadspin.com

By my count, about 100 of the 400 pages in this report consists of naming names.  That's quite a lot, considering that he wasn't sure he should put them in at all.

The Mitchell "Report"
Baseball & The Boogie Down — ... What kind of baseball blogger would I be if I didn't chime in with my 2 cents about the Mitchell Report?  I feel funny even calling it a "report" as it seems like a summation of what we already knew, and that's that MLB has/had a steroid problem.  I'm glad it took 2 years and cost a lot of money to tell us that. What did the "report" really accomplish other than dragging some names through the mud?  ...

Mitchell Report: Mitchell’s Recommendations, Selig and MLBPA Reaction
SOX & Dawgs — ... a whole. I know everyone will have different views towards this problem in baseball. I would definitely expect more fallout from the Mitchell Report in the coming days as the players on the list start to respond, if they decide to do that at all. Also expect Selig to start putting the things in motion that don’t involve the the MLBPA and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. You can also expect Selig to sit down with the MLBPA to discuss the other recommendations. [The Mitchell Report] ShareThis

The Mitchell Report
Tiger Tales: A Detroit Tigers Blog — ... storm today and ended up with a five hour commute from work (it usually takes 50 minutes). I spent the whole trip listening to The Mitchell Report press conferences on XM. They were not among the most exciting five hours of my life and I didn't learn a lot about the steroid problem that I didn't already know or strongly suspect. I have only skimmed the report so far though so there might be more in there than I've heard. The complete report is provided by MLB.COM and can be found here . Mitchell said that steroid and human growth hormone use has been widespread in the game ...

The Griddle: News comes to a crawl
Baseball Toaster — In a sign of how information is disseminated now, ESPN is trying to summarize the Mitchell Report in a news crawl that appears underneath the action of the NCAA women's volleyball semifinals. There's no better way to learn complex information than in crawl form. I'm going to go out and buy a newspaper tomorrow and have someone cut out each line and then paste them together horizontally and then have them pulled right to left in front of me. Would I have learned more in college if all my textbooks had been presented to me in a similar way?

The Mitchell Report - first blush
Down the Left Field Line: Life, Baseball & Eric Byrnes — The full report, which is 409 .pdf pages, is here. I haven’t read it yet, but I listened to the press conferences and some of the commentary and filed a report for KPFA which I made into a podcast for the blog in slightly expanded form i.e. this version is almost 40 seconds longer. There’s still a lot I left out. This is a very complicated issue because, according to what I heard all day, the evidence implicating various players in drug use varies from seemingly solid documentary evidence presented in appendices to the ...

The Mitchell Report: One Mets Fan’s View
New York Mets — ... As you may have heard, baseball’s big day of self-flagellation took place just a few hours ago, with the release of the Mitchell Report and the trio of press conferences addressing baseball’s steroid problem and what needs to be done. Of course, the vast majority of those tuning in or downloading the report weren’t particularly interested in Mitchell’s recommendations; for them, it was all about the list of players who would be “outed” as purchasers and/or users of performance-enhancing drugs. ...

The PED-Free Non-Sequiturs
The Daily Fungo – Detroit Tigers Baseball: Yesterday and Today — About three hours before the Mitchell Report was released today, I updated Twitter with this tongue-in-cheek ditty: Is today the day we find out Nook Logan was on steroids? Little did I know that his name would appear in the report (on page 277). Two bits of interest for me related to Logan: First, didn’t know his first name was Exavier. Second, he preferred to pay by money order. So old school. Now that Detroit Tigers fans have had two full seasons of Curtis Granderson in centerfield, can you even ...

My Favorite Part Of The Mitchell Report
One More Dying Quail — Like many people, I skimmed through the majority of the Mitchell Report earlier today on the off chance I might stumble upon a name or tidbit that everyone else had somehow missed. Didn't happen, of course, but I did find one section that made me smile with its implications. ...

Holy Steroids, Batman!
Sports And The City — ... surprised? Who cares? This isn't news. Every one's known for quite some time that all baseball players are, or have been, on the juice. A most credible source - one Jose Canseco - told all of us years ago. So why all this fuss over the Mitchell report? Leave it to baseball to let a director of the Boston Red Sox lead an investigation into drug use in the sport. In an absolutely shocking turn of events, no Red Sox were named on the list. If you haven't seen it already, here's the report . It was actually a rather enjoyable experience to skim through it. If you're looking for a ...

Mitchell Report Released; Fukumori Signs With Rangers
Texas Rangers — ... Does that make me a bad baseball fan? That’s for you to decide. But I do know that I’m far from alone in holding this stance toward the entire performance-enhancing drugs in sports debate, an area which the national media has generally turned a blind eye to where other sports, such as the National Football League, are concerned. Hypocrisy at its finest, folks. Although no current Rangers were included in the Mitchell Report (available for viewing in both PDF and HTML format), several prominent ex-Rangers did find their names buried within the ...

ROGER CLEMENS SPEAKS ON MITCHELL REPORT, THRU HIS LAWYER
You Been Blinded - Now in Dazzling HD — ... The Mitchell Report dropped and while all hell didn’t break out, Roger Clemens’ name officially did. The video features Roger’s lawyer, Rusty Hardin, standing by his man. Mr. Hardin seems bent on discrediting Brian McNamee, somehow forgetting or overlooking the fact that Roger Clemens was reportedly mentioned in the Jason Grimsley investigation.. The Mitchell Report had access to the Jason Grimsley files, but they were redacted. ...

Obligatory Mitchell Report post
We Suck at Sports — ... I didn't want to write about this yesterday while the whole world was exploding when the report was released. Oh, how we were hanging on every single monotone sentence of the incomparable motivational speaker that is George Mitchell. Really, I didn't hear a word he said, like many people I was at work, so I didn't have to hear him speak about things I didn't care about. Furthermore, I'm not going to dissect this report name by name or what have you, I just don't care enough about baseball to do that. ...

The Best Thing I've Read So Far On The Mitchell Report
6-4-2 — an Angels/Dodgers double play blog — The best thing I've read so far on the Mitchell Report (PDF, all 6.48 MB of it) has been from the Register's columnist, Mark Whicker: If you can ignore the fact that there were no cross examinations, no subpoenas, no testimony under oath, no interaction between accuser and accused, no advance notice to the accused and no hard evidence whatsoever in most cases, the Mitchell Report certainly made its point. But then its point had nothing to do with actual due process, because we don't really need that anymore, now do we? Check with assorted Duke ...

Are Yankee Titles Tainted?
FanHouse — ... Not if you read anything in the report beyond the names of players accused of enhancing their performance. I'm not arguing any of these players didn't use steroids, mind you, just that the rabid focus on the names provided by the two witnesses who pretty much tumbled into Mitchell's lap like soused floozies at closing time at the local is missing the point. If you get beyond that and get to page 310 of the report, you'll find that Mitchell reports "the use of steroids in Major League Baseball was widespread." ...

THE 'ROID REPORT FOR THE WEEK OF DEC. 9
Epic Carnival — ... This week belonged to the much ballyhooed Mitchell Report -- the investigation of performance enhancing drugs in professional baseball that ex-Senator George Mitchell developed over 20 months and utilized 20 million dollars to complete. The reaction to Mitchell's probe was swift and ...

The Smoking Gun
Nats Triple Play — ... Kasten, savvy baseball man that he is, had no idea that Lo Duca might be a candidate for inclusion in the report. Kasten, Jim Bowden, Mike Rizzo and Bob Boone have decades of combined major league experience. One thing the Mitchell Report made abundantly clear is that baseball's front offices were not oblivious to steroid use in their clubhouses. They may not have appreciated the depth or breadth of the issue, but particularly with respect to Lo Duca, steroid use was factored into the cost of doing business. (Mitchell Report, pp 208-211.) ...

Clemens denies drug use allegations
Scott Proctor's Arm - A New York Yankees Blog — ... apparently not earned me the benefit of the doubt, but I understand that Senator Mitchell's report has raised many serious questions. I plan to publicly answer all of those questions at the appropriate time in the appropriate way. I only ask that in the meantime people not rush to judgment." (Yahoo! News) The dirt on Clemens was rather detailed, so I'll be interested to see what else Clemens has to say. The section on Clemens begins on page 215 of the .pdf file.

George Mitchell: Unintentional Barry Bonds Apologist

Dan Naulty Tells His Tale
New York Yankees — ... seek help from players on the Yankees who claimed and lived the Christian faith. One of those men would be a (admitted) user of HGH three years later: Andy Pettitte. Instead of making any excuses, Naulty points the finger at himself for his steroid use without implementing anyone else. He also states that steroids has made a significant impact on his career, including his muscle development and the ability to throw faster and harder. According to the Mitchell Report: After starting his steroid regimen ...

Statistical Profiling?
Dan Agonistes — ... Schwarz then goes through the litany of reasons why such "statistical profiling" would likely be futile ranging from the inherent variability in career path for any particular player, to the problem of what one would measure to try and catch such anomalies, to the fact that the current evidence stemming from the Mitchell report is inconclusive at best. ...

Did MLB physician warn Rocker, I-Rod, A-Rod, and Palmeiro about steroids?
Steroid Nation — ... Interesting that the Mitchell Report named a couple physicians who lectured baseball too.  Mitchell was not kind inrelating their story.  One is substance abuse expert ...

Shiver Me Timbers! Jorge Sosa’s On the Trading Block
Atlanta Braves — ... that Jorge Sosa is available, if the price is right. That means that you — yes, you — can be the lucky owner of one bona fide Jorge Sosa, the noted 30-year-old with a career record of 36-48 and 4.59 lifetime ERA, who has managed to rack up 5.79 strikeouts, 4.07 walks, and 9.03 hits per 9 innings pitched. Scott Schoeneweis (or, as his friends like to call him, pages 302-303 of the Mitchell Report) is also available, and he sports a lovely 5.01 career ERA, with 5.20 strikeouts, 3.61 walks, and 9.56 hits per 9. ...

Why Do Players Take Human Growth Hormone If It Doesn’t Work?
Sabernomics — ... Why is this relevant? Human growth hormone is very expensive relative to other performance-enhancing drugs. According to the Mitchell Report, Kirk Radomski charged his clients $1,600 for a one-month supply of human growth hormone, while he only charged $400 for Winstrol. ...

Strange Fruit, Pt. II: The Curious Case of Tim Raines
Another Cubs Blog — ... Because he’s Barry Bonds of course, and in the eyes of most of the BBWAA and a troubling majority of baseball fans, Barry represents all that is wrong with baseball nowadays.  This despite the fact that, thanks to The Mitchell Report, we now know that a serious steroid problem existed in baseball ...

Bad Steroid Arguments Make Baby Jesus Cry
The Al Central Blog — ... Or look at the famous Mitchell Report. There are a number of high-profile names on the list, not just Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds, but reading through the actual report makes it seem as though the high-profile players on the list weren't looking at steroids as a way to make them greater, but to hang onto big-league jobs they already had. In that sense, most players' apparent image of steroids matches the experience that Mark McGwire had taking androstenedione in 1998 -- prior to 1998, McGwire had a few seasons that seemed to suggest that he could hit 60+ homers if he was able ...

Heat turned up on David Ortiz in steroid conversation
Red Sox Monster — ... , and detailed in the 2007 Mitchell Report on performance enhancing drugs in baseball (start with page 96). To say that the truth remains jumbled is an understatement. Numerous sources have indicated that Major League Baseball warned teams and players away from Presinal following the incident in 2001. Yet despite that and the fact that he also has been tossed from clubhouses Anaheim and Texas ( ...

Ingredients of a Sheff
Mets Geek — ... , Sheffield admitted to unknowingly taking steroids in the past. The admission was questionable at a time when MLB was looking to avoid controversy and the consequences for known users were uncertain. Sheffield underwent a minor controversy but was not punished by Selig. The admission would prove well timed, when in 2007, the Mitchell Report would name, among others, Sheffield as a user. While Roger Clemens and Miguel Tejada are still in legal trouble with the U.S. government and another BALCO client, Alex Rodriguez, deals with controversy, Sheffield can sit back, knowing his ...

Lou Merloni's Steroid Accusations
The Joy of Sox — ... Mitchell did not find evidence of or allegations of players getting guidance from the teams. But if you read the section starting on pg 77, it's pretty clear that the MLBPA and some people within MLB were pretty supportive of the idea of using PED's, with presentations saying that there is no known health risk, etc. Given that, to me it's not a stretch to believe what Merloni said actually happened. (Mitchell report) ...

Was Ortiz Told Of Positive Test In 2004?
The Joy of Sox — ... positive were told of those results by the players union in early September 2004. However, MLBPA Executive Director Donald Fehr told Congress in 2008 that the players were not informed that they had tested positive.
