The No-Stats All-Star
Bright Side Of The Sun — The No-Stats All-Star This is a very long, but utterly jaw-dropping look at Shane Battier, probability and the Houston Rockets front office. It's one of the best basketball articles I've ever read. It's by Michael Lewis, who wrote "Moneyball." Deadspin.com linked to it earlier today, but I had to re-post it here. It's that ...

A great read on modern numbers
Lakers Blog — Some of you have seen this already, but this weekend the New York Times ran a great piece by acclaimed author Michael Lewis about the value of Shane Battier - ethereal, mysterious, and only tangible it seems in conjunction with numbers that appear outside the conventional box score. David's Memphis Grizzlies Blog — There have been some great articles about the NBA recently. First, there was this gem from the New York Times about Shane Battier.  Then, there's just about anything John Hollinger writes. I especially like this article. Think about what Hollinger says about margin of victory being both a useful measure of how ...

Shane Battier - All Star
thedreamshake.com 2/14/2009 — Shane Battier - All Star Here's a really good article from Michael Lewis (author of Moneyball) on Battier. It's a bit long, but it's a great read.
