Youk Looks Like a ‘Rassler.

Kevin Youkilis shaved off his trademark goatee for charity this afternoon in Boston. For some reason, the Gillette company donated $5,000 to the “Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids” foundation in exchange for the Gold Glover’s facial hair. Before the shaving was complete, a fan suggested they leave only a “Boogie Nights -style” ’stache. Youkilis’ wife, Enza Sambataro, agreed — but “Just for a picture.” MLB.com writer Alex McPhillips opined ...

Goodbye, Yukon Youkilis

Three seasons after Johnny Damon lost his Captain Caveman 'do for charity, Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis shaved off his goatee for a $5,000 donation to his charity, youkskids.org. Youk says he plans to re-grow his beard in the offseason and hopefully cut it off again if the Red Sox win another World Series in 2008. "Hopefully, we'll do this again next year," he said.[MLB.com] | [Bugs and Cranks] | [SOX & Dawgs]

... . Enjoys long walks on the beach, 12-pitch at-bats and tiring the bejeezus out of the opposition's postseason pitching. One thing he doesn't like, though, is shaving. At least not usually, given the way his goatee evolved into an apparent habitat for small rodents during the 2007 season. Last night, Youk took care of that, shaving the squirrel's nest off at the Cask 'n Flagon for his new, creatively named charity, "Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids." Gillette, the best a first baseman can get, donated $5,000 for the deed. A look at the action, thanks to the wonderment of AP ...
Kevin Youkilis: Suddenly Twelve Years Old

... People of Boston: So insatiable is our hunger for all things Red Sox that the simple act of our first baseman gettin' a shave for charity had people packed around the Cask last night, with live simulcasts being projected on big-ass TV screens out in the street. It is sick and glorious all at once, and the only reason I didn't show up myself is that my boss had me chained to a stack of ad copy needing rewrites (code for: "I was watching porno.") ...

The Sox and A's will also play two exhibition games -- on March 23-24 -- against Japanese teams. Also: Yook with a clean chin. "I'll start it up again, because a lot of people seem to like it."
Youkilis bids farewell to facial hair

Sounds like it took a while, but Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis is clean-shaven today. He and a couple of stylists removed his goatee, temporarily leaving a moustache. After a couple of pictures, the moustache was gone, too. In exchange for enough hair to make a few cats, Gillette donated $5,000 to Youkilis' charity for children. Get a couple of "before" photos at the Yooooouuuuukkkkk ...
