Blake DeWitt is up for the NL Rookie of the Month for May. He is nominated along with Reds’ first baseman Joey Votto, Cubs catcher Geovany Soto and Braves reliever Manny Acosta. Fans have the opportunity to vote for the Rookie of the Month, with the winner being announced next Monday. DeWitt had a May BA of .322, which is 40 points higher than the next highest’s nominee BA, Votto at .281. DeWitt also had 5 homeruns, 14 runs, and 18 RBI for the month. DeWitt’s current overall BA is .293. He is only 1 for his last 9 but still is being talked as a top candidate for the NL Rookie ...

Gillette is presenting the MLB Rookie of the Month award, and you can vote for Blake DeWitt. You do have to give them marketing information to do so, so take that under advisement.

Ted Lilly beat him 9-3 in St. Louis on May 3rd ( 8 runs on 9 hits in 6 innings ) and Lohse received a no decision in a Cardinals win at Busch Stadium on July 5th. The Cubs scored 2 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings but Kerry Wood gave up 3 in the 9th in the middle game of the series.
