The Official Site of Major League Baseball: News: Granderson shelved by broken finger
LAKELAND, Fla. -- What was hoped to be a simple bruise to Curtis Granderson's hand has turned out to be a stint on the disabled list and likely a two-week absence once the season starts. The Tigers placed their star center fielder on the 15-day DL on Sunday with a non-displaced fracture of the metacarpal at the base of his right middle finger. It was a sudden, if short-term, blow to a club ... [link]

Injury Bunny visits Granderson this Easter
Published 3/23/2008 by Deaner at The Grandy Report
Oh no! Curtis has a broken finger! He will have to spend the first week of the regular season in the DL. The prognosis, Dombrowski said, calls for Granderson to wear a splint on the finger for about two weeks, after which he should be cleared to resume baseball activity. From there, the hope is that he won't need much time to get back up to speed and be ...

MLB: Granderson shelved by broken finger, will miss at least two weeks
Published 3/23/2008 at BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblog
MLB: Granderson shelved by broken finger, will miss at least two weeks As Roto-bud, The Bernal Factor , just told me..."That’s why they put erasers on the end of my ####!” What was hoped to be a simple bruise to Curtis Granderson’s hand has turned out to be a stint on the disabled list. The Tigers will place their star center fielder and leadoff hitter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 23, with a non-displaced fracture of the metacarpal at the base of his right middle finger. The injury occurred in the fourth and final inning of Saturday’s rained-out game ...

Granderson Injured: Does Brandon Inge Play CF?
Published 3/23/2008 by Cory Humes at Comments on: Fantasy
From MLB.com: On Sunday, the Tigers placed their star center fielder and leadoff hitter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 23, with a non-displaced fracture of the metacarpal at the base of his right middle finger. In other words, Curtis Granderson broke his finger and he’s out until the third week of April—at the earliest. I’m assuming that you’ve conducted your fantasy drafts by now—games start Tuesday!—so this should be more a question of evaluating contingency plans than shifting draft position. The Tigers’ other center field options: Freddy Guzman, Brandon Inge, ...

Granderson to open season on DL
Published 3/24/2008 by Eric Stashin at Rotoprofessor
The Detroit Tigers’ Curtis Granderson will open the season on the disabled list, according to an article on mlb.com (click here for the article).  He suffered a “non-displaced fracture of the metacarpal at the base of his right middle finger”, possibly costing him the first two weeks of the season.  This is definitely a blow to fantasy owners, but it appears to be just a minor one.  Two weeks should not be seen as a big deal, so I would not move him down your draft boards if you have not yet had your draft or auction.  Hopefully the fingers heals quickly and it does not plague him for the entire season. The article speculates that Brandon Inge is a possible replacement, as is Freddy ...
