Not that it should surprise anyone, but Smoltzy was put on the 15-Day Disabled List with his cranky shoulder. After getting checked out by Dr. James Andrews, it looks like season ending surgery will be avoided.
“We’re going to let him rest for a little bit and see what happens,” said Braves manager Bobby Cox after learning that noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews didn’t find any significant structural damage while evaluating Smoltz on Tuesday.

That is exactly what he, himself, had said would fix it. Well, this is good and bad I guess and puts us primed to get him and Mike Gonzalez back at about the same time.
