By now, no doubt, you have the news on Francisco Cruceta's designation. Casey Fossum is expected here sometime this evening, possibly by game time, but with the piggyback start going tonight it's unlikely he'll be needed. GM Dave Dombrowski apparently made the decision on the move this morning in the wake of last night's loss. Somebody asked who will set up. For the most part, Leyland said, Zach Miner will be working the eighth inning. That could be different for the rest of this series because of Oakland's left-handed bats, but that's the plan going forward until/unless Rodney, Zumaya and Bautista return. As for the lineup, Marcus Thames returns not in RF but at DH, with Jeff ...
Cruceta Designated by Tigers

According to Jason Beck at MLB.com, the Detroit Tigers have designated relief pitcher Francisco Cruceta for assignment. The team also purchased the contract of veteran left-hander Casey Fossum from Triple-A Toledo to take the roster spot vacated by Cruceta’s demotion.
Cruceta has nasty stuff, but has had trouble throwing his pitches for strikes. He is also out of options, which means the team now has 10 days in which to trade him, release him or outright him to the minors. He was 0-3 for the Tigers, with an ugly 5.40 ERA and an even uglier 1:1 K/BB ratio (or close to it).
Fossum on the other hand had been working as a starter in the minors, going 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA ...
