The nice little stretch inspired someone to write me an email that basically said this: "Yeah, there you go: Every time you write something negative about Kansas City sports, the team goes out and shows you! What do you have to say now, smart guy? The Royals are on a roll, and maybe you should just quit your job. Your time has past. I know you won't have the guts or decency to quit but you're going to have to eat your words!" I can't even begin to tell you how good that made me feel. An "I told you so" from a Royals fan. It is inspiring to know there is someone out there -- maybe it's only one person, but still -- who has real hope that the Royals are going to win this year. This is why I love sports. No amount of losing can break the real sports fan. (UPDATE: I just got a second email from a Royals fan in New York featuring the same sentiment. This is great!). ... Jan. 18-19 at the Overland Park Convention Center, we are selling pairs of stadium seats for $500 a pair with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Royals Charities. At FanFest, we will actually only have 15 pairs of seats present for fans to take home, so make sure you get there early if you really want those seats in your living room that weekend. Otherwise, we will continue to sell seats throughout the 2008 season out at Kauffman.
