MILWAUKEE -- Gabe Gross rounded third and headed home to score the winning run Tuesday. > Then he headed to Tampa. Gross traded
Right Field Bleachers — Gabe Gross was traded to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for pitching prospect Josh Butler minutes after scoring the winning run in the 12th inning against the Cardinals. Something had to give on the roster, as Gabe himself said. It hurts to lose a left-handed bat, especially one with power and the ability to take walks, on a team that is right-hand dominant, but in ...

Thanks, Gabe (and best wishes in Tampa)
Milwaukee Brewers — Minutes after scoring the winning run in Tuesday’s game, Brewers’ outfielder Gabe Gross learned he had been dealt to the Tampa Bay Rays for minor-league pitcher Josh Butler. I’m sad about this move, and I’m not quite sure why…especially since it was long overdue once the Brewers signed Mike Cameron. First, it shows a commitment on the Brewers’ part to Tony Gwynn, Jr., something I and many fans have been clamoring for for years. Also, it will give Gross a chance for more playing time with a young and exciting team. Finally, clearing a logjam at outfield and getting a prospect pitcher in return looks like another great move by Doug ...

In his inaugural post here Dave Cameron wrote about Gabe Kapler’s return to the major leagues and how his production had more than made up for slow starts from Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder . The Milwaukee Brewers now walk alone...Chuckie Hacks
With Gabe Gross gone, the Milwaukee Brewers have lost their divine support. There will no longer be two sets of footprints...and we won't be getting carried during the rough times in August. Damn! But seriously, the Lord as a Rays fan? I don't see it. There's a reason he changed water into wine...he was a fan of the sauce. It was only natural that he be a Brewer fan.

The Brewers trade Gabe Gross to Tampa Bay for pitching prospect Josh Butler. Josh Butler is, according to Baseball Prospectus, "a big righty with a heavy sinker that generates tons of groundballs". He's a 2nd round pick in 2006 and, on the surface, it's a decent talent for talent swap. That said, I strongly dislike the trade, unless there's something else in the works. IMO, Doug Melvin has just

On a day when Gabe Gross had his best game of the season and scored the winning run in an extra-innings affair against St. Louis, we learn that he has been traded to the Tampa Bay Rays for a Class A pitcher carrying a 6.35 ERA.
