The Official Site of The New York Yankees: News: Moeller called up, makes Yanks debut
ST. PETERSBURG -- Chad Moeller saw parts of the Yankees' nationally televised game against the Red Sox on Sunday, but he missed the moments when Jose Molina limped off the field. Thus, when his telephone rang in Durham, N.C., and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre backstop was being summoned to the big leagues, it was something of a surprise for the 33-year-old, even if the move was anticipated by ... Cano Helps Yanks Take Home Run Derby
Published 4/15/2008 by Mike at Green Pinstripes
The balls were friggin' flyin out of the Trop Monday night! Alex Rodriguez, Johnny Damon and Morgan Ensberg (yes, you read right) went deep to help build a 7-2 lead, but the bullpen gave it all back until Robinson Cano belted a pinch-hit solo homer to break a 7-7 tie and give the Yankees a hard-fought 8-7 victory over the Rays in Tampa.  The Bombers banged out a season-high eight runs on 15 hits and edged the Rays 4-3 in the home run department to move back up to .500 on the year.  The Yanks also said hello to a familiar face as Derek Jeter returned to the lineup and finished 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs. The Good: Robinson Cano.  Don't cha know!  Joe ...

Chamberlain placed on bereavement list/Betemit to DL; Albaladejo, Moeller recalled
Published 4/15/2008 by David Golebiewski at The Transaction Guy
The Yankees made several roster moves on Monday: RHP Joba Chamerblain was placed on the MLB bereavement list. Chamberlain left to team to be with his aliling father. INF Wilson Betemit was placed on the 15-day DL with a case of pink eye. The Yankees needed roster space, and the team seems to have lost confidence in the switch-hitting Betemit. A career .258/.331/.435 hitter, Betemit was passed over by the slick-fielding Alberto Gonzalez as Derek Jeter’s fill-in at shortstop. To fill Chamberlain’s roster spot, the Bronx Bombers recalled RHP Jonathan Albaladejo. A big guy (6-5, 260) with a groundball-generating sinker and an above-average slider, Albaladejo just ...

Best Screenplay Oscar Goes To: Four Men and a Jersey

There are no Oscars for Major League Baseball. Nothing like the studio wars in the ‘30s and ‘40s when the likes of MGM and Warner Brothers vied for the theater going public. Few, if any, haven’t heard the news that a construction worker placed a David Ortiz ...
