Rain Threatens Opening Day In Bronx
The Bronx Stop: A Yankees Blog —
Rain Threatens: ESPN is reporting that rain is threatening play at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Apparently the tarp has been in place on the field for almost 2 hours. Officials hope that they will be able to get this game in but Kruky is reporting that that all depends on who you ask. We will see in an hour. Another note: Bob Sheppard's voice will be at Yankee Stadium after all for Monday's season opener, the final Opening Day in the ballpark's history -- for one batter. Sheppard, the Yankees' public address announcer since 1951, will not be able to attend the game as he recovers from health issues that have limited his workload. But ...

... I'LL ALWAYS HEAR YOUR VOICE: Bob Sheppard will be announcing Derek Jeter's at-bats at Yankee Stadium all season long, no matter if Sheppard returns to work or not. That's because Jeter had one of Sheppard's introductions taped, and the Yankees will play it whenever he goes to the plate. (mlb.com) ...
Sheppard to Announce Jeter
ShysterBall —
Because of ill health, Yankees' institution Bob Sheppard won't be on hand today to man the PA. He'll still be announcing Jeter, though: Sheppard, the Yankees' public address announcer since 1951, will not be able to attend the game as he recovers from health issues that have limited his workload. But shortstop Derek Jeter plans to have Sheppard introduce him for his ...
Sheppard to Introduce Jeter, Sort of
Sliding Into Home: A Yankees Blog —
From Bryan Hoch: NEW YORK -- Bob Sheppard's voice will be at Yankee Stadium after all for Monday's season opener, the final Opening Day in the ballpark's history -- although he will be heard for just one batter. Sheppard, the Yankees' public address announcer since 1951, will not be able to attend the game as he recovers from health issues that have limited his workload. But shortstop Derek Jeter plans to have Sheppard introduce him for his at-bats, the first of which will come in the bottom of the first inning against the Blue Jays' Roy Halladay. Jeter has had Sheppard's introduction recorded on tape. "It's unfortunate, because one of the first things I looked forward to when ...
A link dump while we’re waiting
Bugs & Cranks —
Here’s a New York Yankees’ link dump to keep you occupied (or distract you from working) while whiling away the hours and waiting for tonight’s season opener. By the way, check back around game time. I am planning to live blog the blessed event.
Monday’s rainout worked out well for Hank Steinbrenner. He wasn’t able to be in New York Monday, but he will be at the Stadium tonight.
Blue Jays’ ace Roy Halladay believes his team can win the American League East. Maybe there is something strange in the water up there in Canada.
LaTroy Hawkins will wear the No. 21 this season, ...
Oh no! My authentic road A-Rod jersey is bad luck

Also, I ruined Chien Ming Wang's no-hit bid last year by talking about it. Annnnd I make Bob Shepherd announce my name over the PA via recording even though every other player has the new guy while Shepherd is out sick. Ok, now I'm just listing off random stupid superstitions and this isn't getting us anywhere. Basically, I broke out the brand new A-Rod authentic road jersey, and the Yankees played like crap. I'd like to think the two have no relation whatsoever, but Derek Jeter would probably disagree. Anyway, there was a game being played and idiots in the crowd to ridicule, but neither were too exciting on this night. Please excuse my potentially fuzzy recollection - I ...
