MLB.com: Kendrick traded to Japan
Published 2/17/2008 at BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblog
MLB.com: Kendrick traded to Japan The second-year rookie became the victim of an elaborate practical joke pulled off expertly by those in Kendrick’s circle of trust, though that ring has been broken. After the Phillies’ workout on Saturday, Ruben Amaro Jr. summoned Kendrick into manager Charlie Manuel’s office at Bright House Networks Field. With a straight face, the assistant general manager told his gullible pitcher that he’d been dealt to the Yomiuri Giants of the Japanese Central League for a player named “Kobayashi Iwamura.” Presented with a letter printed on Phillies ...

Kyle Kendrick Gets Punk’d February 17th, 2008 Posted in Media , Internet , Philadelphia Phillies , MLB Kendrick Target of Elaborate Prank : After the Phillies’ workout on Saturday, Ruben Amaro Jr. summoned Kendrick into manager Charlie Manuel’s office at Bright House Networks Field. With a straight face, the assistant general manager told his gullible pitcher that he’d been dealt to the Yomiuri Giants of the Japanese Central League for a player named “Kobayashi Iwamura.” Presented with a letter printed on Phillies stationery with official-sounding language, Kendrick was convinced of the “deal,” and given an itinerary of things he must do so the swap could be ...

Saw this item over on Ed Price’s blog and had to pass it along. Sean Henn found a You Tube video of North Carolina’s Reyshawn Terry crushing a dunk over Brackman a few years ago.
It would be worse. Check out the prank the Phillies played on Kyle Kendrick.

-P- Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo will have knee surgery after tearing some cartilage there. He's supposed to miss four weeks and will probably open the season on the DL. This is a big problem for the Brewers if Gallardo is out of action for too long. -P- Via Primer, this prank that our friend Brett Myers pulled on Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick is pretty priceless. Kendrick's reaction is captured on video here. -P- The Marlins are planning the details of a new ballpark.
The Week In Quotes: The Capitol Hill Showdown by Alex Carnevale

THE IMMACULATE HEARING "I didn't particularly want to do a hearing. We held the hearing because Roger Clemens wanted that hearing, because Roger Clemens wanted the chance to speak in public and make his case." --House Oversight Committee Chairman Henry Waxman , on the Clemens hearing last week. "Any suggestion whatsoever that this hearing was the result of our request is simply not accurate." --Clemens' lawyer Lanny Breuer "In all of my years of watching politics, I've never seen a good witness before Congress." --Clemens' lawyer Rusty Hardin , on his client's Capitol Hill performance. "Although there was a lot of back and forth, a lot of arguing, the fact still remains that it dominated the news ...
This Phillies prank on Kyle Kendrick works on so many levels
Published 2/18/2008 at Big League Stew
There are still eight months left in the 2008 season, but the rest of the 29 teams are going to need the time if they're going to top the prank the Phillies played on young Kyle Kendrick over the weekend. If you haven't seen it yet (video here), the setup went like this: Manager Charlie Manuel called the 23-year-old pitcher into his office and told him he had been traded to the Yomiuri Giants for a player named "Kobayashi Iwamura." The ruse, expertly orchestrated by Brett Myers (who else?), worked so well that Kendrick was shocked into silence for most of the trick. Couldn't even stop to realize that MLB and Japanese teams never swap players. So many things ...
