I made a conscious decision to stream pitching before we started the draft. I’m not sure why. But the plan was to focus on offense early, draft a few elite relievers, then load up on setup men with good K/IP numbers. (Ted Lilly and Bronson Arroyo ended up on my team because I thought they presented good value in those rounds.)

Having blown my pitching staff in Seamless League Encarnacion, I entered Upton with a slightly different strategy. I still wanted to go offense early, but I also needed to grab four starting pitchers with decent K/IP numbers. Then three decent closers, setup men with strong rates, and stream the last couple hundred innings.

Notes: Baker's start cut short
Scott Baker's start against the Pirates on Saturday was cut short due to what he called a "tweaked lat muscle." Baker said he first felt the injury during his last outing, when he threw three scoreless innings in a "B" game against the Red Sox on Monday.
