Padres Looking For Corner OF Via Trade
MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com —
Padres GM Kevin Towers chatted at MLB.com today. The money quote:
The one position that we still may be looking at would be a corner outfielder. This would most likely come via a trade, rather than a free agent signing.
And then Towers concluded the chat with this:
That is all the time that I have for this chat today. I now need to go find a corner ...
Would you deal Winn to San Diego for Kouzmanoff?

While chatting with fans on MLB.com today, Padres general manager Kevin Towers mentioned that he is still looking to bolster his team by adding a corner-outfielder. The Friars were rumored to be in the thick of the bidding for Kosuke Fukudome, but the Japanese import ended up signing with the Cubs, leaving the Padres to pursue a potential trade.
Though he’s probably more likely to check on the price-tags for Jason Bay, Raul Ibanez, and Austin Kearns first, it’s not impossible that Towers will eventually place a call to Brian Sabean, and inquire about the availability of Randy Winn.

MLB.com interviewed Kevin Towers: Not a lot of new information but still an interesting read. He's still looking for a corner outfielder via trade, which is nice. Kevin touches on a lot of different topics but answers them briefly. Maybe the most titillating topic is Chris Young. Apparently Young is tightening up his curvy body this off season which will benefit Channel 4 viewers. He's doing mostly core work though so expect to see the ba-donka-donk in 2008.
