The Official Site of The St. Louis Cardinals: News: Pujols to miss at least three weeks
CINCINNATI -- The Cardinals will be without Albert Pujols for at least three weeks, and perhaps more. The first baseman was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a strained left calf. Pujols originally sustained the injury on June 3 in Washington, but aggravated it Tuesday night breaking from the batter's box on a grounder. As expected, Chris Duncan was called up from Triple-A ...

Pujols Placed on DL
Redbird Rants | A St. Louis Cardinals Blog — After seeing Albert Pujols being helped off the field in last night’s win, we knew a roster move was inevitable.  Today, the Cardinals added Pujols to the disabled list, and recalled Chris Duncan from AAA Memphis to take his roster spot. The Cardinals’ slugger is expected to miss at least three weeks with a strained left calf. An MRI revealed the strain to be between a Grade I and II.  A Grade III indicates a complete tear.  Joe Strauss and Brandon Harris have more on the story. The news on Pujols comes just days after the Adam Wainwright injury.  With two of their most important players sidelined, the Cardinals really have their work cut out ...

Which Atlanta Brave Gets a Hospital Visit? Vote Now!
Can't Stop The Bleeding — I know, two posts on the Cubs in one day is a bit much, but during last night’s 7-2 win over the Braves, Alfonso Soriano got a finger broken when popped by a Braves’ pitcher. The Trib’s Paul Sullivan reports him out for six weeks. The silver lining – the Cards lost Albert Pujols for at least three weeks and most likely more. We know the Cubs can win without Soriano, but La Russa with no Pujols? Why, he’d have to be a genius. Far be it from me to argue the Cubs should return fire on the Braves … especially when Hire Jim Essian’s Bad Kermit is already taking votes on which Brave gets an MRI, writing ...

moondogsports.com 6/12/2008 — So who needs Albert Pujols? Well, the Cardinals most certainly need the perennial All-Star back in their lineup but on the day the team learned he'd be out from 3-6 weeks after re-injuring his left calf muscle Tuesday night, the Cardinals took the field without him and pounded the Reds 10-0 Wednesday night in Cincinnati.
