ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have placed pitcher Jason Isringhausen (right hand laceration) on the 15-day disabled list and purchased the contract of rookie pitcher Chris Perez from Memphis (AAA). The team also transferred pitcher Josh Kinney from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster for Perez.  ... [link]

Cardinals place Isringhausen on DL; recall Perez
Published 5/16/2008 by David Golebiewski at The Transaction Guy
To say that Cardinals righthander Jason Isinghausen is having a rough 2008 campaign would be an understatement. In 18 innings, the 35 year-old has posted an 8.00 ERA, surrendering 22 hits with a 12/10 K/BB ratio. Recently demoted from the closer’s role, Istringhausen was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lacerated right hand. Isringhausen reportedly struck a TV monitor last week, but he has pitched three times since that incident. Taking Isringhausen’s roster spot is righthander Chris Perez. The 6-4, 225 pounder was selected 42nd overall in the 2006 amateur draft out of the University of Miami. Perez, 22, struck out 22 batters and walked nine in 17.2 IP for AAA Memphis, posting a ...

Izzy Shelved; Perez Gets the Call
Published 5/16/2008 by Mike at Mike On The Cards
The Cardinals made another roster move today, placing struggling closer Jason Isringhausen on the 15 day disabled list, and calling up Memphis closer Chris Perez.  Here’s the full press release. The move is no surprise.  Isringhausen had already been pulled from his ninth inning duties to try to build confidence in easier spots.  Last night’s poor outing was his sixth blown save and fifth loss of the year.  Something had to be done. Hopefully he’ll be able to come back fresh after the DL stint. Meanwhile, Perez joins fellow youngsters Kyle McClellan and Mike Parisi in the Cardinals’ bullpen.  In 18 games this season in AAA, Perez is 1-1 with a 2.04 ERA, and has struck ...

Isringhausen placed on DL
According to the St. Louis Dispatch (click here for the story), the Cardinals have placed Jason Isringhausen on the 15-day DL, siting a cut to his hand he suffered last week. The injury apparently occurred when he slapped a TV in the clubhouse. The team recalled Chris PErez to take his spot on the roster. Isringhausen [...]
Chris Perez called up
It’s official . Perez up, Izzy to the DL, down with Charlie Brown’s Disease. Hat tip to cardsfan1, who called this last weekend. For that matter, thanks to all my tipsters who leave juicy info in the comments and emails. I usually save transactions like this for the DFR’s, but Perez to St. Louis is a relatively big deal.
And So It Begins
Bernie has put it quite succinctly : Izzy on DL with a hand injury. Perez is here and available tonight. And so the Chris Perez era begins.  It'll be interesting to compare and contrast how he is handled vs. how Kyle McClellan was treated when he made the team.  McClellan was quickly put into tough situations and, for the most part, handled them well.  I don't expect they ...
Off the Wagon
If Wednesday's win was a step toward recovery, St. Louis fell off the wagon on Thursday and landed with a thud that might be felt for days to come.  The same problems reared up on Thursday afternoon--a lack of the big hit, the inability to continue to pile on, and the shakiness of the bullpen. This game was very similar to the one Ian Snell started against the Cardinals earlier.  ...
Daily Farm Report - 5/15/08
This article indicates that the Cardinals will either be putting Isringhausen on the DL or possibly designating him for assignment. I would imagine that he would clear waivers at this point and his comments seem to indicate that he would accept a minor league stint to find a cure for what ails him. The corresponding roster move would almost certainly be to bring Chris Perez to St. Louis for ...
Around the Blogs: Cracks Are Showing
The Cards are in a slump at the moment, having lost six of seven.  That has affected the tone in some quarters of the blogosphere ( Mike on the Cards says they're in a funk and Redbird Ramblings would prefer not to discuss it ), but that's not what everyone's talking about. A point of discussion about last night's game is the usage of Ron Villone.  Stan Musial's Stance really can't ...
