Lo Duca responds to Mitchell Report
VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals catcher Paul Lo Duca reported to camp on Saturday and broke his silence about being named in the Mitchell Report, apologizing for "mistakes in judgment." The report claimed that Lo Duca purchased human growth hormone from Kirk Radomski, a clubhouse attendant for the Mets from 1985-95. The report said that Lo Duca made these purchases as a member of the Dodgers and ... [link]

Lo Duca was under a lot of pressure in the Dodgers organization. Their internal memos and scouting reports said that he was too short to be a major league catcher, even though he was winning batting titles for the Albuquerque Dukes in the PCL.  It is not surprising that he bulked up to stay in the majors. He was always very worried about being tagged with a height issue for which he couldn't compensate.

Douche, Here’s How to Deal With Mitchell
Published 2/16/2008 by Chris Mottram at Mr. Irrelevant
I’m not saying Clemens used HGH, but let’s be honest: Dude used HGH. His wife did, his hetero life mate Andy Pettitte did, shit, half his team probably did. Oh, and his trainer was the one providing the goods. So, Roger, brah, we know you took the juice. And we (or at least, I) do not care. Whether you were on the HGH or not, you’re still the best pitcher of our generation — and maybe ever — and you’re still an insufferable douchebag. And it’s this IDBness that’s doing you in. See, if Roger wasn’t such an IDB, he would’ve simply admitted to taking HGH twice (or whatever petty shit he’s accused of), apologized, ...

PLoD speaks! Well, no... he writes a press release! Well, no... his agent writes a press release for him, but he read it! Well, no... the team wrote a press release for him, but had his agent read it! Take a shot of B-12 every time you you see the word 'community' in it: "In regards to Senator Mitchell's Report, I [would like to pretend to] apologize to my family, all [two of] my fans and to the entire baseball community [DING!] for mistakes in judgment [such as knocking up teenagers, kvetching about teammates, and being a degenerate gambler] I made in the past and for the distractions that resulted. I am fully committed to being the best player and person I can be [even if that's not particular good ...

No Matter How Long The Winter...

Ah, spring training! Pitchers and catchers are in camp and my RSS reader is blowing up. News and notes: -Mike Mussina had minor leaguer Billy Traber's locker switched so that Phil Hughes could be in the corner, next to Mussina and Ian Kennedy. The Moose comes off as such a grouchy old man sometimes that I thought Traber must have been playing his music too loud or something, but that's not it: Ian Kennedy was given the locker on one side of Mussina and non-roster lefty Billy Traber the other. Phil Hughes, meanwhile, was five lockers away, between Carl Pavano and Andy Pettitte. So Mussina talked to Rob Cucuzza, who is the actual clubhouse manager, and asked Hughes and Traber ...

Lo Duca Apologizes for Being in Mitchell Report
Published 2/16/2008 by Mr. Fleece at MLB Fleece Factor
Paul Lo Duca has finally addressed his inclusion in the Mitchell Report, as per mlb.com. Lo Duca offered the following apology: “I apologize to my family, all my fans and to the entire baseball community for [the] mistakes in judgment I made in the past and for the distractions that resulted. I am fully committed to being the best player and person I can be, on and off the field, for the Washington Nationals and the entire baseball community”. This sounds like he is admitting his usage, without coming out and just saying it. Very much like Jason Giambi’s approach a few years back. Lo Duca, recovering from knee surgery, is expected to miss the ...

Paulie Sorry About the Whole Steroids Things
Published 2/16/2008 by Dan Lerner at Hot Foot
Ex Met catcher Paul Lo Duca has issued a statement apologizing for his exercising some poor judgment in regards to the whole steroids thing. The main gist of it, courtesy of the Nats website: “I apologize to my family, all my fans and to the entire baseball community for [the] mistakes in judgment I made in the past and for the distractions that resulted” Lo Duca was one of the many, many players on the Mitchell Report, with his damnation coming courtesy of copies of checks he made out to the King of Steroids, Radomski. Lo Duca has not apologized however for starting a race war with Julio Franco, cheating on his hot hot ...

Hmm, Something's Missing...
Published 2/16/2008 by Nate at Nats Triple Play
Something was absent from today's much anticipated statement by Nationals Catcher/Pusherman Paul Lo Duca. Something besides an admission of guilt, that is. As a piece of public relations the statement was pitch perfect. Stan Kasten himself couldn't have been more opaque. In fact, Capitol Punishment saw fit to run Paul's opus through the vaunted Stan-speak translator. But the duplicity isn't really what bothers me. I wasn't holding my breath waiting for Paulie Lo Down to pop out of his spider hole and apologize for using PEDs and running an amateur drug ring out of a few major league clubhouses. What I would like to have heard is something ...

... after he was named in The Mitchell Report. Boy, would I have loved to have been in on that presser at Space Coast Stadium. Because after reading some of the accounts--I still don't have any real sense whether Our New Number 15 was totally dodging the bullets fired at him by the media. Mark Zuckerman over at The Washington Times found LoDuca to be sincere. The Washington Post reports LoDuca as non committal--questioning his non-remarks. Nationals.com says LoDuca apologized for "Mistakes in Judgement". While The Associated ...

Paul LoDuca broke his long silence today and released a statement about his steroid use and mention in the Mitchell Report.
