Rookie defender Jonathan Leathers of Furman University has been called into U.S. U-23 camp for the upcoming international tournament in Toulon, France. Leathers has never before appeared for the U.S. at any level. The tournament takes place May 20-29, and all matches will be broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel. Last week, I mentioned the potential of Wizards players being called in to the Toulon Invitational in France. Today, we found out the U-23 roster for that tournament. The lone Wizard named to the roster, is Wizards defender, Jon Leathers. This is Leathers second call up to the U-23 team. He had been called up back in November along with Wizards team mates Michael Harrington and Aaron Hohlbein to go to China with the team. ...

... No, it’s not a transfer. With the U-23 squad heading to France for a tuneup/trial before the ‘08 Olympics kick off, Wizards rookie Jon Leathers has been selected in the squad that will head to Europe. The majority of the players heading there are one the fringe of making the Olympic roster, and this will give those involved a chance to show Peter Nowak what they can bring to the team. It’s a mixed bag of players, as they’ve dipped into eight different leagues around the world. They’ll be going up against Turkey, Ivory Coast, and Italy. Best of luck ...
