In other words, it was Sather’s decision not to move Avery for Bernier - made with significant input from others within the organization, we’re told - that created the domino effect in which Hossa and Campbell, the two prime impending free agents on the market, went to Pittsburgh and San Jose, respectively.

The Sharks offered Steve Bernier for Sean Avery and the Rangers turned it down. The Rangers turned it down. The Rangers. Turned it down. THE RANGERS TURNED IT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that the Sharks couldn't get Sean Avery so they went out and got Brian Campbell. I'm confused.
