Nate Robertson's recent numbers suggest he's better suited as a reliever, not a starter

... on the DL because of a mass found in his pitching elbow. While his stats out of the bullpen this season were not good, I'm willing to chalk that up to the injury. Even in his horrid 2008 season, he showed potential to be an effective long reliever. Here were his overall numbers as a starter in 2008: 6.35 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, 5.8 strikeouts/9 innings. Ugly to be sure, but look at his numbers one time through the lineup last season: 3.81 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 6.9 K's/9 innings . Robertson is back as a starter , and the decision can't really be faulted ... they've basically tried everyone ...
