The Triple-Triple (From 1969-1989)
Don Fehr should take a page from Miller’s ideology. The former executive director of the MLBPA fought for a player’s right to determine the direction his career could go. Miller focused on the right of self-determination and personal choice. When a contract expired, the player was free to go wherever he wished under the best terms he could negotiate.

tonycastillocausedmyfacialtic.blogspot.com 11/23/2007 — The players need another Marvin Miller. The MLBPA and certain player agents have become the new team owners and GM’s of the post Messersmith/McNally era--they have too much control over where free agents decide to play and that is so very wrong. Burnett may opt out of his five-year $55 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. He will have pitched three of the five seasons in Toronto and has all the motivation in the world to throw 200 quality innings. If he opts out it’s because his market value will be higher making him a Type A free agent. What’s the ...
