A 47 yard field goal stood in the way of the New York Giants, and a date with the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 42. It was that simple. However there was a problem, Lawrence Tynes had missed the previous two fields goals which would of given New York the lead. [link]

The Patriots and Giants played the last regular season game like it really mattered, even though it did not affect playoff seeding. The Colts played the last regular season game like it was the last preseason game. It is not a coincidence that the Patriots and Giants are in the Super Bowl, while the "well rested" Colts will be quite refreshed when they watch the big game on TV.
