Lechler signed: Door open for tagging Asomugha
Thoughts from the Dark Side - Independent Oakland Raiders News —
The Oakland Raiders announced the signing of Shane Lechler today for the highest contract ever awarded a punter in NFL history. Lechler signed the four year, $12 million contract with $9 million guaranteed.
With Lechler signed, the Raiders now have the opportunity to bring back all three of their most critical free agents for 2009. The Raiders have already signed cornerback Chris Johnson and now will turn their focus to signing Nnamdi Asomugha. Since they don't have the dilemma on who to franchise, it's very likely that Asomugha will be tagged for the second-straight year.
