Why not construct the 3TO award to reflect who is the BEST at it, not simply who does it the most? That would be more interesting, IMO>

That means positive credit for HR and BB, and negative credit for SO.

First off, I must say it took me a few seconds to understand that "parody" is really supposed to be "parity."

Regarding the Rey Sanchez Award:  look at the difference between batting average and the other two rate stats: for Erstad, it's (.033 + .087 =) .120; for the others it's

    Anderson .172, Aybar  .144, Kotchman .186, Pierre .090, and Young .161.

With a higher batting average (after all, the award is subtitled "Batting Average is All I Got") and more at-bats. why isn't Juan Pierre the award winner?

Another good runner-up with a REALLY high batting average, more at bats, and a tighter spread of rate stats would be Aaron Miles, who hit .317/.355/.398 (.119 difference).

I have no problem with Mauer winning MVP (although he won't) but I wouldn't say Morneau's contributions were only b/c Joe got on base a lot.  He played in every game, His overall win shares were second only to Mauer, dispite his heavy slump the last few weeks of the season (he led most of the year).

This is great stuff, quite impressive (from my perspective) and has been used by the Hardball Times their discussion of the 2008 cyber-MVPs as well as the basis for Sky Kalkman's series of position-by-position player value review at Beyond the Box Score. Again, for something like this to be done by (as far as I know) a layperson who makes it openly accessible to all is something very valuable and impressive. It probably isn't perfect* (he runs through all of ...
