The NBA Development League’s 2008-09 season begins Friday, Nov. 28, with six games scheduled, including the first-ever game for the Erie BayHawks, who travel to take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in a Central Division matchup. There may be a recession, but the National Hockey League didn’t feel its effects on the first major shopping days of the Holiday season. The NHL reports that online sales, through shop.nhl.com were up 67 percent from Black Friday and up 10 percent for Black Monday from this time last year. Top selling items, so far for the league, include third jerseys by the Flyers, Bruins, and Penguins, NHL Winter Classic merchandise, and DVDs.
