Notes from on site at the Shell Houston Open : "You wouldn't happen to have a jet pack, by any chance?" We don't follow golf's major tournament odds religiously, but as an avid fan of the sport I believe this may be the closest Vegas has ever came to guaranteeing a Tiger Woods victory. Hard to blame the odds, as we'd also give you a better chance at winning than Phil Mickelson or any other golfer not named Tiger. Here's the Masters field as of today and more importantly the odds to win ...Why Won't the Masters Get Out of My Face?

The Masters begins today at Augusta National Golf Club . jl3 posted 4/12/2008 from ballhype.com
As Tiger Woods entered the third round at Augusta seven shots back he would need to make a Nicklaus type come back to claim his fifth green jacket. So why won't Woods win the Masters? He's too far back and he has other major championship winners ahead of him in Phil Mickelson, Mike Weir and Retief Goosen. While there is still a lot of golf to be played Woods has never come ...Immelman hangs tough, tops Tiger to win Masters

Leaving Augusta National early Saturday evening 18 holes away from winning the Masters, Trevor Immelman heard Gary Player's voice when he checked his phone messages. Immelman still has the photo of himself as a gap-toothed 5-year-old, perched on Player's shoulders, the once and future kings of South African golf together. Player's message Saturday was both inspirational and educational. ...Would Tiger Land the Surgery if We Wins at Augusta?

You know what makes sports news over the top? Speculation. It's when you tune (and as this moment you're going to have to act like you watch "First and 10") in to Skip Bayless and they speculate what would happen or if Magic Johnson and Allen Iverson played one-on-one in their prime, who would win. Anyway, after I slammed out the boring "Tiger surgery" post a couple of people emailed me to ...What the Masters Told Us of 2008 So Far....

It's the Tuesday after the Masters which means the media members that were lucky enough to win in the "Play Augusta Day" have already hacked around the beautiful Augusta National and all that is left are the members and the caddies (hey Joe!). What did the 2008 Masters tell us about this year in golf so far? Here are a few things... It was amusing seeing all the golf publications that touted Phil Mickelson as the favorite going into the weekend at the Masters . Phil’s right there, he’s ready to pounce, this is his chance with Tiger on the outs … yada, yada, yada. It’s like 95 percent of the golf media have never actually seen Mickelson play. This is what he does: He shoots a 75 on a perfect ...Third-Round Update

Even when Phil Mickelson is the one hitting it. Phil just had to hit lob wedge even though his ball was comfortably on the green (every Augusta member cringed when contact was made) because putting it would have required running the ball through a lot of fringe to account for the break. Phil's lob from the putting surface came up way short, however. But then he rolled in a big-breaking putt of ...Masters Round Two: Familiar Territory

I don't know if anybody is watching this AT&T; thing online, but one of the best player-caddy exchanges just went down between Phil Mickelson and his caddy, Bones. They were in the middle of the fairway on 15, one minute thinking six-iron and the next thinking four-iron wasn't enough, because of the wind. They chatted about it, trying to pick the perfect time to hit the five-iron they went ...Well Hello Mr. Mickelson, Good to See You Again

Two things that surprised me about Phil Mickelson yesterday. One - When did Phil start getting so lucky? That putt-thingy on the first hole had bogey or double written all over it and the damn things smacks the flag stick and drops in for a three. Also, his ball not going into the creek on 13 is one of those things that don't happen for your average golfer. Two - He looked good. I hate all ...PGA: Woods four back at Masters
